Powers & Abilities If swordsmanship is so powerful why there are characters who don't use the sword?

Among the strongest in the verse there is almost always someone who carry a sword
Even the strongest retcon in battle shonen's history
Xebec, likely the strongest pirate ever, and roger
Mihawk, ryuma, nasjuro,
Oden, bigmom, fujitora, aramaki, shiki
Almost everyone have a real sword or using a sword made by their power, like kizaru

On a serious note though. Zoro's dream would be quite worthless if 95% of swordsmen would not be included due to some nitty gritty details. He refused to be defeated by a fire spitting acrobat who called himself swordsman and most of his opponents so far consisted on versatile killing machines. Zoro wouldn't call himself world's strongest swordsman if he lost to Shanks.
The same weaknesses all weapons in general suffer from:
having to rely on an external weapon outside of your own body (can be stolen, dropped, rusted, broken, etc…)
beyond that, swords are strictly melee, so their range isn’t as big as other weapons like ranged firearms, but Oda seems to ignore this by just doing “air slashes”

If idiot Luffy can keep his strawhat than mere swordsman can keep their puny
