Alright, so here me out, cause I just went down a weird rabbit hole. The whole thing that sparked this, is I was looking through a couple different threads, mainly pertaining to both Im and Caribou. One was about Im's race, and the other talking about Caribou joining. So I started thinking about what would make Caribou a valid candidate to be a Straw Hat Pirate, and then it got me thinking, what exactly is Caribou's race, since he definitely doesn't look like any of the other races we come across so far. So I was scrolling through pictures of him, and something caught my eye.
If look look, you will see that Im and Caribou have the same exact eyes. I believe the colors are different, but the pattern is exactly the same. Now this in and of itself wouldn't really warrant a connection between the two, but like I said I was going down a rabbit hole, and there was something pretty interesting I noticed in this weeks chapter, that most of us just brushed off completely, outside of the fact people were using it as "Caribou for Nakama" evidence.
When Oda first shows us that Caribou is hiding on the ship, and listening to the Straw Hats, the scene he emphasized was of Luffy yelling they should go to Mariejois to save Vivi.... That's when we see Caribou, and his inner monologue is what is interesting.
Notice how Caribou's reaction is that it would not be if they were to go to Mariejois. Now I know that it's a heavily fortified area, and some people could chalk it up to Caribou just being scared, but that doesn't really fit. He's sailing with the Crew who just took down the Beast Pirates. Not to mention, that Caribou has a knack for killing those in positions our power (Marines).
So the question is, is why did Oda highlight this scene specifically to introduce the fact that Caribou was hiding on the Sunny, and why did it make Caribou nervous?
Now it also gets put into a little bit more perspective, when you think about Caribous personality. He is very devout in his belief of God. Most of the heinous acts he carries out, is always in the name of God. What is Mariejois known for? Housing the self proclaimed Gods, the Celestial Dragons. It could hint towards Caribou having some kind of connection to Im, or at the very least, a connection to the Celestial Dragons.
Also, not to mention Caribou has a knack for dumb lucking his way to important information. If he doesn't have a direct to connection to Im-sama, then perhaps he was a slave or a servant of the Celestial Dragons, and managed to find out about Im-Sama, who is the "One true God."
Honesty, it could just be one massive coincidence, but I just find it all pretty suspicious. Here we are, with this character who has the exact same eyes as Im-sama, has a chance of being the next official crew member, dumb lucks his way into important information, and has became WAY more relevant that any of us ever thought would happen when he was first introduce during the Return to Sabaody arc.
At some point the Straw Hats have to come across someone with inside knowledge of the Celestial Dragons in order for the story to advance. Perhaps it has already happened, and Caribou is our guy.
