Actually a pretty good theory. Would explain why people assume that shanks is a lesser swordsman when they didn't fight for decades and also the need to mention shanks when justifiyng his bounty.

Haters aren't worthy of any real response your issue with Mihawk lies in your insecurities, character you have ridiculed for ages keep getting put on higher pedestal more swordsmen are introduced in the series. Keep crying Mihawk stands at the top of all swordsmen nothing will ever change that
I never had ridiculed Mihawk before just expressed my problems with his character which is still shit today.
Until Oda get off his lazy ass and develop a character that he introduced 25 years ago my opinion won't change, Mihawk was made to be a milestone for Zoro and until now that's all he's got. Hopefully he will be more fleshed out but as of now he is just a Yonkou Level Stone in OP.
Talking about insecurities when you are the one defending him nonstop because of Zoro, I mean I get it, you need his hype to hype Zoro but to try and twist Mihawk is a good character is hilarious. Hopefully you will realise that the more fleshed Mihawk or his Legend is the better for Zoro and what Oda has done in the past 25 years is ridiculous for a character that important in the story. I am not hating, i am expressing objective and actual criticism of what Oda has done to him, like it or not it is the truth.
