Chapter Discussion In Defense of Sanjino

#1
Oda took a fat one on Sanji this week, there is no beating around the bush

No, it isn't a pretty look for Ifrit Jambe to be haphazardly utilized, having to share the stage with Franky and Bonney

But let's cut the shit: it is also petty, and it is being illiterate of Oda's history of chess-playing with the Strawhats, for Zoro fans to single Sanji out this week

Especially when we have an example of Oda doing the exact same thing to Zoro, that he did with Sanji here

Worse yet, Sanji didn't even use his strongest move here lol

If Franky's Strong-Right = Ifrit Jambe, does this mean Flambage Shot = Asura here?

Oda does what is convenient, not what makes the most logical sense from a portrayal perspective. That is why he is willing to treat characters as disposable soldiers at the expense of portrayal, if his ever aging mind finds it a worthy tradeoff that moves the plot along a little further

In closing, let's take turns laughing it up on Sanji this week, but going forward this anti-feat should be left at the door and out of any genuine feat discussion, just like we do with other anti-feats such as Zoro & Luffy vs Apoo, or Luffy vs Gazelle Man, or Zoro vs Carrot

Nobody actually thinks Impact SR = IJ HM = whatever Bonney’s attack was called, it’s just funny to mock the side by side scaling that Sanji fans desperately cling to in order to leech off Zoro.

The issue that Sanji’s used his strongest attack here, it was combined with two other attacks, and it just gave Luffy a slightly sore ass. That is embarrassing af.

All Oda had to do was not use IJ and there would be literally nothing to comment on.

No matter how you twist panels you can’t defend this. Stop deflecting Sanji fan and just accept Sanji isn’t as important from a strength perspective as Zoro and Luffy.

Sanji’s L’s do not make Zoro look bad and Zoro’s W’s are not attributed to Sanji.

If Zoro does a combined attack with anyone it’ll hurt whoever the target is immensely. That is evident in the fact that he can damage Kaido.

Zoro used his strongest attack against a Pacifista combined with 2 other attacks and it didn't do squat
That chapter has every single Strawhat using their strongest attack against the Pacifista, one after the other, culminating in Luffy finally landing the finishing blow on the Pacifista.

It has absolutely no resemblance to the Sanji scene this chapter and you deliberately cut out all of the other Strawhat contributions because that makes the argument even shitter than it already is

Every top-tier has their anti-feats, and it is ironic that Zoro was in the exact situation Sanji was in but it's alright because it's been some years

Yeah so a combined attack with everyone using their best, AKA what's happening here

Bonney went all-out in this chapter, Sanji went all-out this chapter

You’re trying to deflect from Sanji. They didn’t have haki therefore couldn’t damage the pasifista regardless. This is a dumb argument. Sanji took an L stop trying to drag others down with him.

If Zoro was in this position right now I would have talked just as much shit about him.

It doesn't change anything about the argument, it's the fact that Sanji used his best attack in a combo-move and it looks shitty, but not when Zoro does?

That's a double standard

Unrelated, lame comparison. Oda would never use Zoro like he did with Sanji in this chapter. Dude used his strongest attack and it was basically a gag.
Sanji and Zoro both
-used their strongest attack
-used it in a team-attack

Characters fighting side by side being used for scaling never made sense anyway.
Drake defeated a Number and G4 Luffy did the same by his side. But G4 > Drake (if Drake is relative to G4 he'd have no problem beating the brakes off Guernica and Maha without even needing Apoo and those two Numbers).
And that's not the problem anyway. The problem is Sanji using his ultimate technique and ultimate move and only making Luffy say ouch and do the eye pop gag. When you compare that to Zoro easily piercing Zoan Kaido's scales with Tatsumaki and making him yell and cough blood (and that's not even half as impressive as Ashura), it's pathetic as hell.

Why are you bringing up Haki, a system that wasn't even developed properly until after the timeskip? Sorry, did the Pacifista use haki or something?

Zoro used his strongest move, in a team-attack, just like Sanji did. You're just biased

In defense of Sanji, you should blame G5, everything becomes a gag when Nika takes the stage.
The best defense for Sanji is to stop trying to make everything he does a feat. For example kicking Nojsuro isn’t a speed blitz. If they stop antagonizing other fanbases and like the character for who he is most Zoro fans wouldn’t mention Sanji.

Stop saying Sanji can beat King just because Zoro did it. If they let that go they’ll be able to enjoy Sanji in peace.

No you’re in denial. The haki system was invented Rayleigh was touching Kizaru, Garp was able to damage Luffy you are make your self look bad. Just because they didn’t know Haki doesn’t mean the system didn’t exist. The Pacifista are unable to be damaged without haki. Stop deflecting just take the L or don’t and continue to get clowned until One Piece ends.

People should be honest and distinguish an anti-feat from Oda making deliberate portrayal, and this is an anti-feat

Simple as that

The crazy thing about this is the one not being honest is you. It’s plenty of people here that aren’t Zoro fans that think this looks bad. I’ve had Sanji fans tell me this looks bad. There isn’t equal portrayal because Oda would never portray Zoro in this light.

What kind of argument is this?

"they used a team attack because they couldn't counter the Pacifista's haki weakness"

Cool, Luffy and co. used a team attack because they can't counter the Gorosei's weakness

You're isolating on irrelevant factors that don't change the fact that Zoro went all-out in a team-attack, just like Sanji did, but to the community one is shitty but not the other

It does look bad, it looks horrible. No Sanji fan wanted this, but we also take an honest look at context and see it for what it is, Oda playing chess and that leading to anti-feats, AKA not something that should be used in any serious powerscaling discourse
