I just quickly checked the wiki, it is pretty much mentioned there too.
Kiki Kyutoryu: Asura => Ghastly Nine Sword/Blade Style: Asura
So its just part of....and the only style related to nine sword style(similar to how we have Iai with one sword style)
I would call it style if Zoro picked up 9 swords and used them like that Bee guy from Naruto.
However, Zoro isnt doing that, his body parts are multiplying along with swords.
When he uses Ittoryu, Nittoryu, Santoryu or even Mutoryu, his body parts are the same. Not in Asura.

Just checked in wiki...its says its his martial art not a form or anything like that.
You defined a form as a change in physical base stats. Well that’s a change in physical base stats.

In fact what’s interesting is that Sanji DOES NOT get any change in his physical base stats in Diable Jambe yet I’m assuming you call that a form right?

Huh? So is Zoro’s three sword style a move or a form too?

like Zoro transitioning from using 1 sword combat to using Three sword combat. Is that akin to Zoro changing from a move to another move or changing from an entire set of moves to another entire set of moves, meaning changing forms.
But Ashura is a state he multiples and can mantain this form if he wants to

Against Kaku, Zoro:
  • Activated Asura and had a conversation with Kaku
  • Destroyed his Amanedacchi and ran towards Kaku while in Asura:
    • Zoro executed a counter attack
    • Zoro was running around in Asura
  • Defeated him with Ichibigun

Zoro performed several actions with his first usage of Asura.

Preskip Asura was much like G3:
  • Zoro activated Asura, performed a few attacks, then changed back to base.
  • Luffy activated G3, performed a few attacks, then reverted to chibi Luffy until the cooldown expired

Zoro has multiple attacks in Asura:
  • Ichibigun
  • Makyusen
  • Usugi
    • From Strong World

Luffy had multiple attacks in G3
  • Gigant Pistol
  • Gigant Whip
  • Gigant Bazooka
  • etc.

I think Asura is near exactly analogous to G3 (this makes sense, as Asura was Zoro's G3 equivalent). If you consider Gear Third a single move, you should consider Asura one as well, likewise if you consider Gear Third a form.

I think both are forms that grant Luffy/Zoro access to new movesets.

All we know for now is that in the two times where Zoro used Asura in the manga, even that one time in a movie, it always disappears right afterwards like his every other attack that has some kind of spirit manifestation, so I'm inclined to believe that it's just a move, one of his strongest mind you.

However I really wish it's mode for him just like G4 is for Luffy.

Another amazing post.

Here's the scene when Zoro used it against the Pacifista with a different attack.

Just like you said, it's a form.

Zoro unleashing Asura against Hybrid Kaido will be dope. :finally:

You have a point, though even if it has many variations it's still one attack before Asura disipates so I'm not sure I could characterize it as a full on mode.

Hope it would be confirmed as a mode going forward in the manga.
Thats how I perceive it as well. If it is sustained for a longer period of time after one strike then it would need more context around what is going on. For now just seems like one of his more devastating movesets rather than a form in of itself.

Move with 2 different attacks? And i'd argue that G3 is shorter.
Lol Luffy can gattling in gear 3 for minutes/hours though. Zori should try to sustain asura for more than a minute.

Asura is more of a charged attack than a form. It's like Kings punch. Most of Zoro's best attacks seem to be charged moves. Even Sanzen Sekai falls into that category. Just cause he spins the blade doesn't mean it's a "form"
