Is Buggy main Luffy's rival?

Come to think about it, Buggy has an insane luck just like Luffy. He also has the ability to gather allies. And now he is the Yonko similar to Luffy.

Kid honestly has no chance in terms of luck. Look how he was treated in Udon prison compared with Luffy. He also got betrayed by his allies unlike Luffy who never got betrayed by SNs. Also he doesnt have Yonko status.

BB is also more like a villian just like crocodile and Kaido, not as Luffy's rival.

Since OP is plot-driven instead of power scaling, Buggy seems to perfectly match as Luffy main rival.

For once yes honestly, he is very successful in his career as a pirate. Even though Buggy is a troll, he actually has an army at his disposal, treasures of experience, and other things.

kurohige and buggy are rivals to the post of pirate king. only shanks does not have chances but he does not seem to want to be pk tho

buggy is a tool to deprive a ranking of meaning like a clown he is. after luffy beat the last shichibukai he had to beat oda confirmed buggy was a shichibukai and took the meaning from the title. now that luffy beat the yonkou he had to beat oda made buggy a yonkou too meaning the yonkou are not going to be seen as the targets anymore.
this means if kurohige is still going to be luffy enemy he will have a better title than yonkou when they fight so his chances of becoming pirate king are very high unless oda trolls us and they never fight each other.

buggy also has big chances of becoming pirate king because oda might want to troll the concept of pk the same way he used buggy to devalue the titles of shichibukai and yonkou.

it is even possible that kurohige becomes pk first luffy defeats him and then buggy become the next pk.
luffy real dream not be become pirate king but something we still do not know is a wild card that maybe means oda intends to troll us and never make luffy pk.

Clown vs clown is a neat idea

Technically Buggy rivals Shanks. Stopped him from reaching the final island, blames him for the DF incident and carries that grudge. Climbed through the ranks to become a fellow Yonko.

In the end they're all rivals except Blackbeard has virtually no chemistry with Buggy.
