He is that silly, but fate is on his side, hence why he keeps failing upwards. We're already seen what CG has done to his self-esteem; once he learns about his origins (be them Nefertaris or Lodestar or whatever else), his ego will receive the necessary boost for him to unlock CoC and actually be a treat for EOS characters.
He is a clown for a reason.
