Why can't we just talk about One Piece, especially in the OP section?

I hate this forum. Just a brain dead zoro circle jerk cult that is obsessed with slandering the main character and Oda lmfao
fuck off then ?

I think there is no real proof to Oda admiring "his idol". I even haven't read the allegated source material it's inspired from.
Didn't even pay attention or anything, I just enjoy Oda's storycraft.

I just mean to say that the party is over ha*erboiz. You would perform better, if you were to bring these offtopic slander talks to twitter. The toxic twitter haterboiz would enjoy taking a bath in such a thread.

ngl, I also think Oda is a weird guy

but he isn't doing anything majorly/maliciously toxic or harms anyone

he doesn't deserve that inhuman portrayal that alot of ha*erboiz are giving to him
why do you type like that

He ended up making his idol (the character he made for Watsuki) canon in the manga

https://x.com/sandman_AP/status/1819261915904069862?t=1nfcbwhnQIho3iuya15bKw&s=19

He simply can't stop idolising his deranged master

This just keeps explaining why he doesn't mind sexualising Bonney (12 y.o kid)
Why he loves to sexualise female characters in his manga

Maybe he's a weirdo like his former master whom he calls "a wonderful" after he was found guilty and known for pedopornography

Shueisha resigning wastuki and mangakas (including) still praising this dude is disgusting
They don't care about children nor women, they just care about themselves and money
Op is projecting. Need a hard drive check

It really isn't worth spending time thinking about stuff like this. We are never going to know what exactly is going on in Oda's head. Maybe he is suspicious or maybe Oda just wants to remember the person his idol used to be in his eyes before said idol's reprehensible moral failings became known to the public.
Oda is pretty tame. I've heard some horrible deranged shit that fucked up Mangakas include in their series to live off their sick fantasies.
I was in a PM chat where the subject of isekai manga came up and nearly every person that talked about it had a horror story from that genre. This is what I suffered from that godforsaken genre.
Anytime I have looked at an isekai, I have been subjected simultaneously to the weirdest and/or most boring nonsense conceivable to mankind. Standouts that I partially read are:

I) The Ride-On King, where the one and only joke the story has is that its protagonist is a Gigachad Putin clone that rules generic Central Asian-stan, whose life goal is to whack a saddle on every creature in existence and ride it. Once the Putin meme quickly wore off, the story became incredibly boring. I stopped reading after the mangaka subjected me to a loli panty shot. "Oh but achkshually, she's a half-elf human hybrid that just looks and acts like a minor but is totally an adu-" feck off mangaka. Lel.

II) Creature Girls, possibly the most pretentious manga I have ever come across.

The premise is supposedly hard sci-fi monster girl titties. The story then becomes a poorly executed Reddit incel thesis on why feminism is bad, morality is bad, humans are bad, religion is bad, rape ain't that bad, incest isn't bad and how everyone that disagrees with the author is bad. Also, adding Wikipedia articles explaining technology at the end of chapters proves the mangaka is totally smart and definitely not a try hard. ๐Ÿคก

The author literally halts the story with a lengthy end chapter segment just to have his mermaid character meta defend the feminism bad argument the author made several chapters previously. You also know for certain that all the weirdo stuff is definitely the view of the author and not the view of a character because the rest of the cast just nod their heads along dumbly and nobody ever challenges any lengthy argument that is made. He literally created the Arachne culture in advance as a strawman to defend his feminism bad argument.

Also, the mangaka makes it ambiguous as the whether the harpy character is an adult or not, which in reality translates to she isn't but the author doesn't want to confirm it as that for legal reasons.

As you can see, I haven't had much luck with isekai manga either. :shame:

Japan is weird.
The watsuki thing is really obvious to understand in context with how Japan works.

Oda was rejected from all magazines at first. No one would publish his ideas and no editors liked his art. Watsuki was the only one who gave him work as an assistant. After that, watsuki personally wrote letters to jump to get them to give Oda a chance. He literally only has a job because of Watsuki. One Piece would not exist, it would have never gotten the chance. He feels like he owes Watsuki because of this.

Even though he's a criminal, for Oda to shit on and abandon the guy who got him his job in manga would be unacceptable.

Man who gives a shit. If anyone has such a problem as they claim then they should stop reading and stop being a fan then, unless they actually have no conviction. If you really think this is the worst thing ever and continue to read and engage with the series then I can no longer take you seriously.

:kayneshrug:
Of course the dude with the loli sig would be ok with this

Your input on this subject?

@Logiko @CoC: Color of Clowns
My vision stands around the principles of second chance and rehabilitation. So If I applicate this for criminals of all sort, I don't know why I couldn't applicate this also for someone who paid for what he did, which SEEMS to be the case here.

I think Oda is acting under those principle too. Also, the fact that he was a dear friend of his must play a role. You can't really cut relationship that easily.

As for Oda being a weirdo, I think OP is making big shortcuts. While yes sexualizing adult looking kid is kinda weird, this is really not something attributable to Oda himself. This is rather a linked to the problematic of sexualization of women in general in the manga industry. Oda really makes no difference here, he just sexualize grown female looking character with boobs. Oda is a bit pervy, but nothing more.

I think Oda is just recalling a time where he was happy and I think it doesn't go farther than this.

There's no way you just called Marine a loli, what even is that argument :usoprice:

Agreed, it makes sense why he does it. Ultimately though I can understand people not liking Oda taking his side considering Watsuki is an absolute degenerate, but if that's the case said people can just either separate the art from the artist or drop One Piece if they disagree with Oda's way of doing things/statements, it's really not that hard.
