When Kaido said Luffy couldnt become a Joy Boy it struck me. You cant become a person, but you can become something, a title.

So i got this weird idea that Joy Boy is rather a title than a person. Title passed on from a person to person.

Original Joy Boy was alive 900 years ago but Poneglyphs only appeared 800 years ago, so either Joy Boy had some long ass life or someone else took the mantle of Joy Boy
