General & Others Is Kaido living up to the hype?

How?

Yonko term appeared after Roger death, at most probably 6 years ago (since Yonko = 4 Emperor).

-Didnt meet BM in decades (probably God Valley was last time).

-WB didnt want to confront Kaido pirates, neither Kaido did since WB wouldnt run from a fight and much less outside Kaido's headquarters, and we will know about it.

-He said to Luffy something like "it has been a long time since I got worked up like this" , or something like that 2 chapters ago, so most probably he didnt fight Shanks 2 years ago,not seriously at least, at most some clashes and that was Shanks going in his way, not Kaido challeging him.
And the one who actually challenged the other one probably is Shanks, maybe 6 years ago, not the opposite since Kaido barely leaves his island (once and it was because plot demanded it for Ace to not be crushed) since Jack is the errand boy of this crew.

Not really he could have easily challenged any yonko especially WB.......WB pirates didn't knew about oden's death for most of the time......shanks is also there......and same goes for BM........so yeah

It was less than 10 years when they found about it, otherwise they will said more than a decade.
And like I said, an event so important as WB vs Kaido in those times (after Roger death) we would have know it by now.

The way it seems it was when ace was already a part of WB pirates so 2 years ago + we have know for some time - lets say 5-6 years otherwise oda would have mention something like 10 years...7-8 years is the timeline imo........so kaido could have easily fight WB before that timeline.......there is no prob with shanks.....and I don't remember if it is mentioned exactly after how many time BM and kaido met.....if yes then show me the panel

No, it was way before Ace joining. Izo said they found it several years after Oden's death = less than a decade, otherwise it would be mentioned, but it wasn't and they were talking about something way in the past, not something which happened more recently.

BM and Kaido didnt meet for at least 2 decades, probably since God Valley.

Yeah you are right about BM then (I assume this are viz scans?)..........not about WB.........ace joined and then marco states it have been some time so lets say 5 years and this is lowballing.........."it has been some time" can mean anything.........

No, Marco didnt say anything about the time. It was Izo.
And Izo said that it was several years AFTER Oden death, he didnt say it was several years AGO when he was explaining to Ace.

Nothing states he didn't/couldn't...........we know some parts about kaido's life that is all........the only thing which is confirmed is that he didn't fought BM.........WB and shanks and even admirals or color vice admirals are fair game........

Like I explained, we know all the relevant info between Kaido-WB in this period of 20 years, though we dont know all Kaido's past in these 20 years, which doesnt matter, since that's not the point.

Kaido no yonko hype is over Oda is so inconsistant he just wanted to hype them up thats all then he says WB didnt fight him in the last 20 years he didnt saw Linlin for decades more 2 obvious
so all thats left is Shanks

As a fighter, he is the single most impressive individual in the series so far. He clapped asses like there was no tomorrow. :cheers:

As a character, he needs a GREAT flashback to make him a compelling character instead of a mere trope.

Kaido and Big Mom are the only Yonkos told to not be human(not sure about Big Mom, but she is different since born for sure). Even BB that is told to have a different body composition is still portrayed as human.
Roger turned himself to Marines, he chose to die that way.
BB wasn't Yonko at Impel Down and he receive mora damage due his logia(not really true but Oda wants to pretend this is a real thing, and is not exactly a logia but paramecia).
WB having heart attacks... what is that suppose to be? He is old and sick.
Shanks wasn't Yonko when he saved Luffy.
Big Mom is another Yonko we can't take serious, same as Kaido.

There is so much to happen agaisnt Kaido to be on WB levels. So far Kaido is receiving none to little damage. Even Red Roc was shallow attack. WB took massive damage and still died stood up. Kaido is falling down and almost getting knocked out by Scabbards little damage while remaing stood up after Zoro making a new scar on him. Inconsistent.

He did Kaido earned his spot in the top of the verse for plot reasons some characters might surpass him but right now this is his time, in terms of strength i don't think he needs to show something more but as a character i have to admit he is poorly developed he needs some more backstory and stuff

Marco, the man regarded by the gorosei as a potential yonko calibre fighter who went up against Blackbeard and clashed with Big Mom is sweating bullets against King and Queen. And that's normal, two yonko commanders should be tough for anyone to handle.

On the other hand Kaido has been taking on 14 supernova and scabbards worth around 200 (Raizo) - 1.5 B (Luffy) back to back whilst carrying the whole of Onigashima and still come out on top with a few measly scars. The man is beyond impressive, the only other man I could see achieving the same is Whitebeard. Speed, strength, durability, battle IQ all top notch.

Kizaru and Fujitora are strong but would probably get overwhelmed. Big Mom can be tag teamed like Kid and Law showed. In a team fight they only need to get the DF user into the ocean. Akainu did well against WB commanders and Blackbeard does have hype so they could perhaps match Kaido, anyhow it's a top 3 in OP verse feat what he has shown.
