For me, "Oden's Haki" is actually the Kozuki clan's ability to carve indestructible objects like poneglyphs, meaning that Oden's retainers and Zoro managed to carve Kaido's body with their Ryuo which, in reaction, awoke Oden's Haki stuck in Kaido's scar.

So I substantially doubt he referred to a living spirit, that would be extensively strange.

Maybe since swords are living objects they can store memories, but haki from people indefinitely?

I don't think so. Most likely not, also for a logical matter... why would Oda likely portray a sword capable to turn nigh invincible by storing haki from countless users and still be tamable.

enma isnt a cursed sword. the only special thing about enma is that it draws out the users haki more than it should. kaido does NOT refer to it as odens haki. he calls it odens sword, and "strange haki". odens haki is obviously not "strange" to kaido, it would be familiar. the "strange"ness is that zoro's haki is tainted by the asura or whatever.
