Is proposing in public sweet or cringe?

I think it puts the person you're proposing into a certain spot- a lot of people feel pressured to say yes when eyes are on them in public, even when they would've said no in a more private setting.
I think something like that, where you're asking someone to be your partner for life, is too emotional and "intimate" a subject matter to ask them in public.

Well it depends.. if you put a pression on the descision of your parter for such an important matter, and unless those people have said clearly that they love that, it usually means that you care more about your enjoyement and your own desire than the potential feeling of your partner.

Meaning that in the long term, this will have consequences on others behaviors in other situations and will most likely create conflicts..
