Questions & Mysteries Is the Blackbeard Crew too weak for EOS opponent?

Honestly, if LOda really wanted BB to be a good EOS villains, he should've had Mihawk join him as his real swordsman rather than some rando prison warden, and maybe recruit Moria willingly rather than kill Absalom so as to have him make the zombies of Whitebeard and Ace part of his crew for some real manpower and added emotional depth for Luffy.

I mean, Zoro will certainly surpass Oden, even as per his father's own words ("Enma has yet to become a black blade, I'm sure in your hands it will archive that rank" (unlike in Oden's hands, who had Enma his whole life)).

With Blackbeard being supposed to get farther than his father (who gathered the future Yonko around him) and surpass Whitebeard in terms of power (who had Oden and PK potential Ace (according to Sengoku) as the commander of the second division, akin to Shiryu being the titan of the second ship), Shiryu certainly won't be a bum. Especially since he was shown in the color spread with the other first mates, including Zoro, Ben and Rayleigh.
Zoro will surpass Oden around the time he will surpass Mihawk. Shiriew just isn't up there.

Zoro will surpass Oden; however, unless BB finds a way to artificially buff his crew they just aren’t it. You’re talking about characters who would give prime Sengoku a run for their money, not someone who needs to sneak attack old Garp just to get one hit off of and then gets dropped on his ass.

Shiryus not a bum, but he’s not a top tier. Hes definitely not going to surpass the admirals with his current showings

Really depends whether BBPs will be final villains or not.

I prefer imu and WG as final villains but BBPs can still end up being FVs. We are going to see a part of imu's powers soon in elbaph.
We are but Imus history is still mysterious while Blackbeards is currently being explored. There’s no more mystery surrounding the character as such him being saved for EOS just narratively isn’t as likely as Oda preserving Imus mystery especially since everything we see from Imu will be done from a stand in.

Yeah it feels that way, it was one thing for all 5 Elders to be top tiers with conquerors haki, the Holy Knights also have immortality to some degree and require conquerors to defeat. It’s like if the BB pirates were to come after would the stakes feel more dire just because there are actually mirror matches for each Strawhat? Imu being the catalyst for the entire One Piece narrative with the strongest forces the guy (or girl) themselves has a mighty conquerors haki that can be felt throughout the entirety of Elbaf whilst possessing a mere vessel, Blackbeard’s devil fruit stacking doesn’t even feel remotely as terrifying compared to what Imu is capable of it seems like if I’m being honest. I can’t imagine Shiryu of the rain being Zoro’s climax for example compared to an ancient Immortal demon samurai, doesn’t even feel right for him to come after Mihawk even.

Right now, definitely. Blackbeard pirates are somewhat above typical Yonko crews with Aokiji joined, but still they pale in comparison to Imu's side. BBP will get a modest boost when his Captains who recently got their DF get more mastery, but that's not much in the grand scheme of things. If they are to be final villains they need a tremendous boost. BB third fruit, Seraphims and maybe even an Ancient weapon.
