There are many factors as to why this forum isnt as popping as it once was and one piece is still as popular as it ever was maybe even more so

1. There's hundreds of other forums that people go to or they can go to reddit or even YouTube

2. This forum isnt advertised anywhere so Unless you're looking for it you won't just stumble across it

3. People grow up and have other responsibilities

So between the lack of advertising, over saturation of forums and people just moving on

It makes since this forum isn't as popping as it was before

Imo the thing is also

At the end of the day you shouldn't let insults get to you but nobody likes getting insulted so it pushes some people away

And the enviroment where people insult each other casually also starts to feel empty, even with many users, because there's no connections and it doesn't lead to otherwise more enjoyable discussions

I hope Kizaruber comes back

But I think when you really analyse this it makes sense:

What do you come here for?

I want to be here because there's some people I like here, but when I was away and thinking about it, I think I'm weird and expressive and that's the attitude I have, but really what's the point in being here if I was just going to be insulted? I can mute the people who insult me like that but then there's also the wondering of what they say about other stuff and just wanting to see opinions.

And on a smaller scale for others, if you just get insulted, that's a barrier, yeah you get over it, but compare having barriers put up against you when you come on a forum, compare that to the scenario of people being kind, if people were kind instead of insulting, there would be positive impacts in the place of where the barriers created by the insults are

You can toughen up and stuff but man a forum is not where I want to put my efforts of getting over challenges into

You mean other platforms as well, seems like Wano really did a number (huge number) on the fan base.

People are turning to tweeter and facebook circle jerk over there than here.

Youtube's numbers are down, people stop watching because their prediction never come true. It's because it is called a theory, doesn't mean every theory will eventually becomes reality (even though their clickbait thumbnail says 'The Something is Solved' telling people otherwise).

People got mad when their theory got debunked and then crash out.

Uh, One Piece charted top manga in oricon sales last year lol? If thats a flop then all of manga is flopping currently.

Angry meatheads upset a forum isnt plagued with other angry meatheads isnt really anyones problem. WG had to deal with incessent ZKK and Sanji vs King bros for the entirety of Wano's duration, if thats what you feel like is missing from this picture.
Even the people who were target of troll started accepting things like sanji fans stopped defending him etc... So there is no back and forth engagement too.

Most nerds moved to reddit and discord
Reddit got the same thing happened.

People just wanted to have their own media space to have control and have their voice heard. Slowly it's kinda get saturated which causes the fan base spread thin.

Truth doesn't drive engagement and anticipation and that's like a fact, but when manga finally reveal the truth, fan base crumbles.

This is a useless metric without comparing it to previous years

have the sales increased? If they haven’t then that means that the only reason one piece was at the top was because its competitors ended before it and their sales went down
Its not a useless metric when all of physical manga sales are declining due to digital and people are still buying the 112th and 113th volume of a manga more than other manga lmao

You can’t claim it’s a useless metric without looking at all of the data

Sales for every manga have gone down over the years

JJK’s sales went down by millions every single year even with a wildly successful anime adaptation. I don’t think anyone would argue JJK was falling off or flopping (in terms of popularity) due to a decrease in physical sales

We live in a digital age. Less and less people are buying physical copies of books/manga every year and the numbers are only trending downwards

Many people just don't like the culture, too. It's easy to say it's just a nerd culture with nerds fighting over things that don't matter 99% of the time, so people get turned off easily.

To be competitively obsessive, you're required to read through +1100 chapters and then the big prize is you get to argue with a guy who wants to talk about how thick a streak of lightning is for an entire year.

Don't forget SBS, interview, vivre card, staffs's twitter hint, the movie hint, anime hint, and live action hint. it's a full time job, that's why people rather read from OP scholar than write it themselves.
