Ace is one of my top 10 favorite characters.

It's kinda sad that people hates on Ace due to a misunderstanding, that Ace could have live if he didn't fell for Akainu's taunt. It's not true.

Ace said that he will never run away from a fight. A trait that is consistent in his character.

If Ace were to run away from Akainu, people would trash talk Ace and calling him a pussy. So Ace would still get slandered nonetheless.

Ace is one of the best written characters in OP because of this. But it's unfortunate that Oda has to kill him off due to his Pirate King potential.

Imagine if luffy was like his stupid bro, and never ran away.

Hé would have died to dodfy and katakuri.
Nah. Lolda made it known if Luffy had been killed, he is revived as Joyboy. :queenmoji:

Being called a pussy is hardly worse than dying and wasting the sacrifice of your entire crew, no? :pepecroc:

And, actually, he did run.

Before Garp revealed who Luffy's father was, I thought he was the son of the Pirate King and didn't know it.
Then Oda proved me wrong and gave Luffy a father I didn't know anything about, and it was quite disappointing.
But when I discovered Ace was actually Roger's son, I felt like he was supposed to be the main character of the series! I fell in love with him, soon to discover he died not too many episodes later (I still didn't read the manga back then). I was broken hearted, it was hard, and I couldn't stop thinking about him and making up all kinds of ways for him to still live. I wrote a fanfic with ongoing chapters at least once a week for about two years. It was about how I saved him and took him to the real world, where he underwend surgery in a hospital and healed from his wounds. He couldn't go back since it was the time-skip, so he took me by yacht on a journey to Japan, to ask Oda to return him to the story. I was in love with him for 6 years. But over the years, I grew way older than him, and he remained 20. Eventually I couldn't dream about him anymore, and my heart became open to accept a new love. There will always be a warm place in my heart for Ace, even if I think of King all the time now. I still carry his name in my username and I have no intention of ever changing it.

He was dead for almost 15 years, who would still focus on him, but he's one of the fan favourite and major character, plus Sabo exist as Ace substitute who will time and again show some Ace vibe/parallel.......so he can't be forgotten even if we think so
In general, It seems many ppl still care. He's always consistently been at least top 15 if not top 10 in any popularity poll worldwide even in the latest poll. If they do another global popularity poll this year, next year etc etc I'm positive he will be in that range again forever

The things most of worstgen members doesn't give a shit, it seems a way vast amount of ppl outside cares alot.

Back on Orojackson there was at least an user or 2 who loved him, still time passes and of course thing of the past eventually fade. Anyway Oda did a really good job with his story, I don't like or despise him particularly but he was in a way the focus of the most important (and beloved) arc in OP all the way from his chase of BB to his death.
