Is YC2 thiccness intentional on Oda's part?

Nope, YC3 of every Yonko crew is introduced separately while, YC1 and YC2 are introduced together or within a short span and fight together and pose together.
Red Hair Pirates:
Benn Beckman and Lucky Roo are introduced and fight in chapter 1 while Yasopp introduced in Usopp flashback.
Whitebeard Pirates:
Marco and Jozu are shown when Shanks visits and show their abilities at the start of war while Vista is introduced in Ace Flashback and is not focused until he fights Mihawk.
Big Mom Pirates:
Katakuri and Smoothie are shown fighting first in the Tea Party and pose together while Cracker was introduced first and fought in the Seducing Woods.
Beasts Pirates:
King and Queen are introduced in Wano while Jack was introduced in Zou earlier.
But one thing is common in all YC3 and above that they can defeat people like Doflamingo and G4 Boundman.
