Character Discussion Is Zoro’s goal real?

#61
That's not a forshadowing or any kind of planting. But it can indeed be a good hypothesis yes. Although in that case, it would kinda ruin the fact of Shiryu becoming by defaut the new strongest swordman.

True.. You could say that Zoro also seeks recognition, which is not incompatible with what I said previously.

That's a good way to analyse the character yes.
Oda loves his setups and foreshadowing

that's why i agree that Luffy will be King of the Pirates, that Luffy and Shanks will reunite in some fashion and that Nika will save the world

the same way i think Mihawk, the Strongest Swordsman in the world, setup as his goal from the moment Zoro left his home island, will be his final goal

there's no setups and foreshadowing connecting Shiryu or Mihawk at all, they have never interacted, Shiryu is being painted as a murderer who enjoys using anything in his hands to kill his target, he has 0 interest in swordsmanship

and the final duel to honor Kuina's memory will be against another honored swordsman, not some lunatic murderer

and if Oda was planning on Shiryu killing Mihawk, he could've just sent Shiryu invisible on his island and killing him there

0 reason to take all this extra route of making Mihawk join Cross Guild, this entire thing was done to get Mihawk on Zoro's future path again

and another thing, to complete Mihawk's own dream

of finding someone worthy to fight him in a straight up duel

Shiryu is not that guy, he would use shitty tactics to defeat Mihawk

and that's not what Mihawk wants

Mihawk wants a fair fight head on, he even refused to fight Shanks after losing his arm, because he sees that as unfair, it breaks his view of an honorable fight

He abandoned his goal during the time skip. His primary goal right now is to make Luffy the king. Whether he ends up being the WSS as a result isn't important to him.
if you read and understood the fight against King and how Zoro could unlock advCoC you wouldn't be making such stupid comments

Explain why it would be terrible, granted Shiryu powers up enough for it to happen legitimately?
Mihawk who doesn't have on screen feats besides hype and portrayal will get off screened by Shiryu since Oda cant show his full fighting style to save it for Zoro, anyway, featless Mihawk will lose to featless Shiryu and then the same Shiryu will fight Zoro and lose and people will be hyped about it? yeah no, if Oda ever did something like that he better not leave his house again cause some Ztards are insane, they'll probably hunt him down if he did some terrible writing like that!

Finding a cause that is more noble than your own selfish dream doesnt mean you abandoned your dream.
It just means Zoro will make Luffy into PK first and then go achieve his dream. :goyea:
The strawhats are hard carrying his ass while also pursuing their own goals. Funny thing is aside from Franky and Robin none of the strawhats need Lika to fulfill their goals. He is nothing but a burden :milaugh:

Is Zoro’s goal a thing in the story? Like is it a plot point that will be resolved? Will Zoro achieve his goal?
Will he achieve it? - Yes

Is it an important plot point? - No, it's completely meaningless. Af first it looked meaningful, but ever since TB arc that meaning has been lost. And we know from Egghead and Wano that Oda likes to make Zoro have meaningless fights, so no doubt Zoro vs Mihawk will happen as well

Don't expect Zoro vs Mihawk to be good fight also. It will be trash fight spread out over 50 chapters with a total of 1 chapter worth of fight panels.

Shiryu powers up how? With his shit fruit?
Atbest that fruit ability will be a training tool for Zoro.
Also the mf that couldn't do shit to Moria and got folded by a retired old man in one hit isn't going to defeat Mihawk. The mere thought of Magellan makes him shit his pants. Also Kuzan called this guy straight fodder, even going as far as grouping him with nameless fodders.
You're saying the idea of this mf defeating Mihawk is not terrible?

You guys love to shit on Mihawk because he doesn't have many feats, while love to hype the trash that has a long list of anti-feats.
