If anyone's confused, it's Sugawara and not Fujiwara. Michizane is Gojo and Okkotsu's common ancestor. Michi's one of the Three Big Vengeful Spirits, and from the looks of it, Yuta is Michizane's reincarnation.
Higher CE output isn't the same as higher cursed energy. It means he can exude more Cursed Energy at a time than other people. Yuta's Cursed Energy reserves are next to none in the series as far as we know. He doesn't need a plot armor to deal with Ryu.
