The official translation doesn't make it sound worse at all. Some fans are just adding content that doesn't exist
GB didn't say anything about Kaido's strength keeping him away. We all know Wano was making and trading weapons with the WG. Who would have imagined the WG was indirectly protecting Kaido.
Same think for Shanks. He left because of the RHP not Shanks alone.

He didnt mean to compare him with Kaido. I'm not talking whether he is weaker than Kaido or not.
He meant that WG used Kaido to not let other Pirates come to Wano. There is another panel.

Kaido's rule/regime is what was protecting Wano.
His order for supplying weapons kept the WG out of his hair.
His Yonkoship kept other pirates out.
Kaido protected Wano....the allaince took him out. Now it has no more protection. Thats all GB is saying.

We would literally have to forget all the info we know to think that GB was talking PL. Info such as:'
- Kaido supplying the WG with weapons
- Kizaru and Akainu not being afraid to intercept Kaido and Linlin
- GB gladly taking on a allaince that defeated him
- GB having zero interest in Wano
- GB having a vendetta against Luffy, even though (if go by what Kaido > GB gang is saying) GB wouldve logically be grateful for Luffy taking him down.
