Kaido is past antagonist and Mihawk barely shows up in the manga. However, they are always brought up in thread discussion. When any swordsman shows up, they are always compared to Mihawk, including with some mihawk slander of course lol. Similarly, when a non swordsman character shows up, kaido would be compared to and be slandered. Just see the past discussion from nasjuro, loki, kizaru appearance.

Why are Kaido and Mihawk always brought up? Well, it's simply because they are the world strongest. They represent the pinnacle of strength that every character in all the seas dreams to be. That's also why you seldom see new characters being compared to big mom, gaban, or marco.

Mihawk , Kaido , WB all title holders were monster in their own right. Oda showed great respect to even sick MF WB in terms of feats and same for Kaido. Mihawk also will have best of feats.

It will take god tier characters like Imu to show much superior feats overall.

Yes, the World's Strongest title holders are indeed a ceiling.
There have been exceptions like Oden who surpassed WSM tho.
However, whenever the titles were obtained, they have hard capped all others.

Nobody was stronger than Kaido 28 years ago, that includes Imu and all others.
No human was stronger than Whitebeard when he obtained it before great age of pirates.
Once Mihawk obtained his title, he became the strongest character who sits at the top.

In a sense, I get that take (Kaido was called strongest pirate and creature when most figures were active, Mihawk's World's Strongest Swordsman), but Imu exists. I don't think Luffy will be restricted to be below Kaido or Mihawk when he has to take down Imu (plus even if he had a lot of help, no way he'd remain below someone he beat forever), and Zoro will defeat Mihawk. I think Kaido and Mihawk will always be pinnacles of strength in a way, same way Prime Whitebeard is, but there'll be characters to surpass them. Teach seems like he could be Luffy's Xebec and I expect him to be stronger than both though obviously he isn't yet. I just hope Mihawk actually gets a chance to do something soon cause going off title along for too long gets tiring.
