Character Discussion Kaido D. Poorly Written - Is It Possible To Enjoy Kaido After Your 13th Birthday?

So in other words, strength by itself still never makes for a good arc villain, because every arc villain is going to be relatively stronger than everyone else around them until it's time for Luffy to fight them
So Kaido shares a trait with Every good arc villain in the stpry in that he is strong enough to be the arc villain. But for some reason this is a bad thing now? You like Crocodile being strong enough to be a threat in Alabasta but you dont like Kaido being a stron enough to be a threat in Wano

So its not that you dont understand this, its hypocrisy???

Kaido is one of the best characters introduced post-TS. Well, he is not as good as an antagonist as Doffy, nobody is. He is not as great as a character as Katakuri, Then how many characters we got in One Piece as good as Kuri? But compare Kaido to most other antagonists, he is a pretty good character.

Let's start with strength. Its true that strength doesn't make a character great always. But for Kaido's character, strength is probably the most important part. Kaido has been introduced to the readers as the strongest for quite some time. He got all this ridiculous hype since the suicide chapter. If Kaido hadn't delivered by one shotting Luffy, or carrying Onigashima, you would be first to call him a failure and a joke.

He is unpredictable. He had forgiven shutenmaru who fought him, but killed Orochi at the first dissent. He can be whimsical drunk at times and can be pretty cruel during others. I find him intriguing in the sense that we don't really know his motivation. Why he tries to wage war? Why he wants to die? There are other things which makes Kaido different. He is not like Akainu who will play every underhanded tricks to win - he gave the scabbards and supernovas every chance to hit him. On the other hand, he is not like Mihawk/Zoro who believes in fighting fair as we saw against Oden. Its still early to judge how complex or unique Kaido is as things can change in the future. But for me, he is already way better than Big Mom.

Kaido also shares this trait with every bad arc villain, because even the worst arc villains in OP (Kaido by far) were strong enough to make it to fighting Luffy.

You are arguing that Kaido is a good arc villain because he checks off literally the most basic requirement of being an arc villain. Lol

So is Kaido being strong a bad thing? Yes or no?
I thinl what he wants to say is that characters.with overwhelming strength are boring because the same power they is often product of not hard work but genetics - insert Kaido, BM and even Superman

Being strong just to be strong is boring. Doesnt make for a good vilain. Doffy and Croco had much more going on

I never said it was a bad thing lol. It’s just not a reason to like him. Like you’re arguing Kaido is a good character because he checks a box that every character better than him already checks off anyway. Just, no.

Kaido’s strength itself was even done horribly wrong, because Oda made him so powerful than both Luffy and Zoro received plot Jesus power ups out of almost nowhere just to compete with him.

with overwhelming strength are boring
Dude CONTEXT... What is wrong with people... Don’t you know context is a thing

You think Madara Uchiha mollywopping the Ninja alliance wasn’t part of the reason he’s like one of the best anime villains ever?

Dude. CONTEXT

Be specific. Being strong doesn’t make a character boring unless the context around their strength is boring... Get it? Fuck

Because you are the police on such things as what people should or shouldn’t like about a character? Geez

Why so angry?

All i am saying characters that are born strong arent interesting. Madara even tho was prolly born stronger than most still worked hard to achieve more power

Big Mom was born strong , same.as Superman. That is just not interesting. And while them kicking ass can be cool it doesnt take away that the character itself isnt that interesting

And Kaido was born strong? Where are you getting this?

It’s big mom who was born strong and guess what, she’s a fantastic character... The two chapters of her backstory in WCI are THE best chapters of the whole arc when it comes to characterization

Anha? So? Do you want us to go into detail? I can argue for days that Big mom being born a monster is one of the things that make her incredible as a character and on the flip side I can argue that Oden being born a monster is one of the big disappointments of his character

See, why is that? Why is it the same point “born a monster” can make two different characters work either well or badly... BECAUSE OF CONTEXT

Jesus... Why are people taking this thread seriously? The man gives no context for any of the random ass shit he says... purely nothing is being said in this thread... It’s plain bait at best

I barely saw a character who was born strong that was interesting. Big Mom is hardly a likeable character for me.

Spoiled kid that never grew up and only bcs she was born strong was she anything special. Thats it. If Big Mom wasnt born strong she would be a nobody. Her strength is her character

Nothing wrong with enjoying a simple character. No need to belittle those who enjoy Kaido for who he is. I always thought Kaido was pretty boss since his introduction and while Wano has changed my opinion of him quite a bit, he's still had a few good moments. I expect to see more from him including his past but I feel like it's a bit much to say only kids can like Kaido and anyone that does, doesn't appreciate actual characters.
