Character Discussion Kaido... Had potential but Oda neglected him so badly...

Well, do you actually think Kaido had potential in the first place? Judging just for his intro alone, I was scared of the potential threat he could be for our protagonist. Oda's worst decision to date in my book is making the decision of develope goofy samurai Orochi and the scabbard retaliation plotline. Oda could have gone straight to Kaido's backstory in act 1 and 2, alongside his crew (numbers, calamities, and F6), so we could've known their motivations and personalities a lit bit more. kaido's tendency to commit suicide, his Rock's past and his relation to Wano country (endgame material) and his beastly appareance and presence. How the fuck could you reck such potential?? That is beyond me. He could have been a great villain , better even than Doffy, but Oda just didn't care at all, and now, everyone hates Kaido for being bland and uninsteresting in his own arc. I am dissapointed but it is how it is.

What? Mmmm he is still has great potential in the story.

But he has lived up to his title as the strongest beast and maybe the strongest emperor. He is very powerful.

I atill laugh at the ones who judge him as the strongest creature alive. Despite he is labeled like that it's clear for the most part psychological warfare and lack of deeper knowledge caused that. I wonder if Im sama won't flip stronger in case he will be fought, or what about Mihawk by hype and portrayal clearly standing above Shanks, even Papazuki might be revealed as more potent since the Luffy facing him will probably be robustly stronger than the one currently facing him off and will arguably be assisted by Sabo.

Relax, when its time for Luffy to put him down for good we will get his flashback,Doffy only had his flashback prior to Luffy going G4!
Oda will finish the other fights and then it will be Kaido's time to fall!

Nah Kaido is goated :finally: and his flashback will make me love him even more

What is there even to like about Kaido lol? His generically evil goals and ambitions? His utter lack of a consistent character, flipping back and forth between polar opposite character traits every other chapter? His complete lack of charisma or memorable quotes? The fact that he’s supposed to be a ruthless warrior but spends 50% of his panel time crying like a bitch?

I think people who think Kaido is even a half-decent character probably also think Dragonball Super, the literal worst fictional series of all time, is pretty good lol. Or do you just like Kaido because he’s “really big and muscular and badass!!!” Like a 12 year old who has never spoken to a member of the opposite sex?

Seriously I’d love to hear Kaido fans actually try to convince someone as to why Kaido isn’t shit lol. I think anybody above the age of 13 should recognize Kaido for the obviously generic, self-contradictory mess that he is.

True, Orochi seems like a bad thing for Kaido as a character. By inserting a weakling, vengenceful "mastermind", you take away a lot from the actual villain. You could have had a ally shogun who was strong, and just works for Kaido, but focus the arc on Kaido himself entirely. Orochi just took a big chunk of the story away and hes a useless character in the grand scheme

This has been my sentiment right from the start. Orochi simply took the villainy spotlight from Kaido, basically being the one behind all the major villainous acts in Wano and against the Scabbards who are the emotional center of the arc.

First impressions are a big deal even in fiction, and Kaido was basically a background character to Orochi's mastermind for the first 2 acts of the arc. That's why I think those who are expecting a last minute flashback or history to save Kaido's character are just going to be left underwhelmed.
