After the big Rocks reveal, I wondered about something...

Was Kaido going to Marineford to save Whitebeard, his former ally? I’m aware that little to nothing about the former’s personality would suggest he’s so affectionate, but maybe the latter saved his life during their time on the same ship and Kaido just wanted to return the favor. Perhaps he just wanted to bear witness to the fall of his former ally, or maybe he was also trying to die, but it feels like there’s something more at play now that we know what we know about the two of them.

Also, we know Shanks stopped Kaido from reaching Marineford...but why? If he knew that they had once been nakama (even if only nominally), what would possess him to not only force Kaido to turn back, but then go in his place?

What do the rest of you think? Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, and this is purely speculative, so I don’t have a whole theory whipped up...just thought of it on the fly and thought it’d be a fun thing to discuss.

Nah I think he wanted to kill Whitebeard which begs the question since Rox members fought each other I wonder if the Big Mom Pirates and Beast Pirates will have their own civil wars and mutants in their own crews.

I mean we saw Capone, Jinbe, Aladin wife, Capone wife all betray Mama
Kaido probably will be betrayed by the Novas
and possibly Smiles if o Tama can control them
Blackbeard betrayed Thatch to get the yami fruit
Squard felt betrayed by Whitebeard stabbing him
For Shiki I don't remember anything
Captain John was stabbed by his crew mates
Now we see Daifuku and Perospero arguing about who should be captain next

Nah, he just saw an open window to finally kill Whitebeard who would be unbeatable if he's organised inside his territory with his Bois.

Whitebeard pirates were stronger than Beast Pirates

He just wanted to eventually die, and there are no lots of males to be able to do so. Little did he knew that WB was waiting two years more, after saving Ace to attack Kaido and fulfill Joyboy reincarnation. Luffy will do it for him

Interesting we need flashback to this . Whitebeard and kaido they sure have some past .

However we know WB did not like his previous crew so i assume WB hated both kaido and big mom.

Maybe kaido held good regards about Newgate considering he saw WB as yardstick to become stronger.

Good observation. Never actually thought about what kaido felt about his former crew.
