Questions & Mysteries Kaido's top brass are seriously undermanned and it's killing the tension

#23
Over ten years ago our time, Zoans were noted for both ferocious strength gains and recovery

Jack fights for five days and five nights without falling to tough opponents

Jack recovers from a joint admiral beatdown to attack Zou again

Jack recovers from being smashed to the ocean floor to fight again in Wano

Kaido tells Jack to recover and come back

What part of this is a "plot tool" versus the actual fucking plot. You can't have it both ways, either you complain that the Beasts are too resilient and resourceful (Queen and Jack don't just rely on strength, quantity and dirty weapons are huge threats) or you complain that they are undermanned.

Mate, Kaido had to step in and save Jack's ass when Sulong Minks should offed him, just so Jack can have another go. That is literally plot.

At the very least Jack has accomplished something in comparison to any other incompetent beast pirate. Kaido himself said that he took good care of the Sulong minks.

Did u actually expect competence from the Beast pirates a group that's 24/7 having an internal power struggle against each other?

Incompetent is the middle name of Big mom and Kaido, same as their armies

So, don't utilize the innate abilities of the Zoans in the story that was established over a decade and hundreds of chapters ago?
Trust me , everyone here wants Zoans to do something and we get damn Batman and Holden.
I just wish Kaido's troops wake the hell up and do something. Because at this point i've got no reason to believe they are stronger than Big Mom Pirates.

Tension was much higher in Whole Cake Island and def higher in Dressrosa

It's all a setup in two ways.

First is to give the readers (and characters) a false sense of hope. The alliance attacks the drunken Beast Pirates, and everything is going exactly to plan. The odds are in their favor, it seems like they really might win this thing.

Then the second aspect kicks in. An already established power that the Zoans possess. As they lay there, seemingly defeated, the Zoans start to rise. Now no longer drunk, and capable of performing at 100 percent, they will launch their counter attack.

I actually like this, because it breaks the mold for once. Usually it's the protagonists who are on the receiving end of the first round beat down, and they are the ones who have to regroup and launch a counter attack. For once, Oda is showcasing the antagonist in this manner, and it works because of the circumstances.

Uhhh, Jack saved Kaido. They had already seen that the Scabbards could wound him, so the whole Sulong army in addition was looking bad. Even losing to the two rulers bought a bit of time.

Minks at Zou:
- The Beast numbers hardly dwindled and Jack had only begun getting tired before he overwhelmingly WON.

Queen:
- time and numbers are what decide a battle
- beats Luffy secondhand with Zombie plague

Hawkins, Beast Pirates:
- either you join or you stay on the run fighting
- Straw Hats have a 19% survival chance, "that person" has a 1% chance

Kinemon, scabbard leader who's wounding Kaido:
- doesn't want an all out fight even with ideal numbers
- figures he's going to die in the process

Kaido:
- upon seeing CoC, decides to break Luffy's will

The whole point of the story for years now is that the Beasts wear down and break opposition. Kaido, Hawkins... even Babanuki and weak ass Holdem have tagged enemies by exploiting victims when strength wouldn't do it, and there are plenty of hostages to go around still. The idea that there is no tension, that this is due to recent developments, is rubbish mate.

I sure hope its like that. So far its pretty underwhelming for me and i honestly expected more from the arc that was hyped for so long
