Powers & Abilities Kid losing to Shanks is an integral part of his growth as a conqueror

#62
Kid does shitty things, but lets not exaggerate it

It was a pirate battle. Those ships all belong to literal career criminals.

Not to mention they wanted to fight Kid
They were literally retreating as Shanks ordered and Kid was going to shoot. Don’t try and make him some “true pirate” Kid was literally introduced as a menace who kills anyone who laughs at him which is a dead opposite to Shanks’ philosophy which is why his loss here was fitting.

Hell kids first act in the new world was literally crucifying someone and Shanks didn’t attack until Kid did. Kid literally brought all this upon himself.

There's a big difference between Kid being a violent pirate and the oppressors who Luffy actively opposes.

The difference being that Kid doesn't take away the freedom of others.

He hurts civilians.... because they insult him
He kills pirates... because they're in the "game". Even Zoro killed one guy from Baroque works.

And if you read the SBS backstory Oda gave Kid, it seems very likely that he's like Luffy in that he values freedom.
D: Is there any reason why Kid and Killer formed a pirate crew, or how they met Heat and Wire? P.N. Dragon Water
Above: Kid and Killer
Bottom: Heat and Wire

O: Of course there is. These four were born on an island in South Blue, and Kid and Killer have been friends since childhood. The country is a non-member state of the government. Gangs rule the island like kings. Each of the four towns on the island has its own gang, and the four bosses are Kid, Killer, Wire, and Heat, and there's constant conflict every day. One day, Kid's best girlfriend was killed by a gang. Her name is "Victoria S (Shiruton) Doruyanaika". Kid, who got mad at her, united the four groups and defeated the country's number one gang. "I don't want to live in such a narrow world", he said, and became a pirate with his bad friends. The name of the ship is "Victoria Punk".

Kid basically did the thing Luffy did in liberating an island from its oppressor. Hell, he did the same thing in wano by taking out Big Mom, who was allied with Kaido.

The idea that Kid cannot be a successful pirate in of himself because it would go against Luffy's narrative is nonsense.

Joyboy liberates the oppressed, he doesn't rule the world. Kid hasn't been shown oppressing anybody. Unless you think killing pirates is oppression, in that case Roger, Shanks, and Zoro are all oppressors as well.

Blackbeard also values Freedom but he’s still a villain.

Kid can value freedom all he wants; however, hes still a villain who was killing people who were retreating and was defeated by a heroic figure in shanks

Side piece is over, Oda got rid of all the filler characters that were here to pad the story, now we are back to the original plan with the OG characters that Oda had in mind 20 years ago.

One piece is about Luffy Shanks Buggy Blackbeard Dragon the marines and the WG not captain Kid or Law or even Big Mom and Kaido.

The difference between Luffy and Kid is that Luffy is the main character whose adventures we follow week by week and Kid is a support character from the Wano arc

Bro literally owns slaves and wants to be part of the world government

Anyways regardless of whether or not you think Kid is a bad person, every single time he is on screen, he ends up helping Luffy.
  • involved in the sabaody incident, where Luffy punched a celestial dragon
  • involved in wano, where they took down Kaido and Big Mom

So yeah, there is no reason why Oda can't complete Kid's arc and make him a yonko, because ultimately he would just end up helping Luffy anyways.

And he crucifies people for fun. Don’t consider the lesser of two evils to be good. His final moment in the manga was literally him being portrayed as a villain attacking weaklings mid retreat.

There’s literally no use of Yonko EOS. The yonko system literally won’t exist.

It doesn't matter bro. This is a pirate manga. Luffy is a pirate. His goal isn't to end piracy or even destroy all bad pirates. Dude isn't Akainu.

Kid is Luffy's friend

Kid is Luffy's friend
Bartolomeo is also luffys friend, also a villain who immolated people for fun.

Kid may have been an ally, but he was put down by Luffys mentor. A man who’s constantly pushed down our throat of his goodness and his strength.

And you think odas going to sacrifice Shanks’ W?

Kid living doesn't undermine Shanks's W. In fact it would actually make sense if Shanks saved Kid from drowning, given how the Kid pirates surrendered, handed over their poneglyphs, and begged Shanks not to kill Kid.

You don't understand what it means to be a villain. Pirates aren't good people, it is known. But this is a pirate manga. Luffy is a pirate.

Being a pirate doesn't make you a villain. Opposing Luffy does. Bart hasn't done that and neither has Kid in any meaningful way.

Kid and Law play distinct and unique roles that none of those characters fill.

They are Luffy's peers and his strongest allies. They are effectively unofficial straw hats. They grow alongside the SHs and have helped the SHs defeat their greatest enemies.

Buggy is literally a fodder joke character.

Shanks and Dragon aren't Luffy's peers, they are more of Luffy's mentors. Hence the role that they play is fundamentally different to that of Kid and Law.

The idea that Kid needs to be dead because Oda will never let him shine when these other characters are around doesn't make sense. Kid grows alongside Luffy, those other characters don't. Eventually when they have served their purpose as mentor, they will step aside.

Its the same reason why we can say with good confidence that Zoro will surpass Shanks as he wishes to be the WSSM.

Shanks did let them live. The giants are the ones who put them in the sea because the Kid pirates attacked their home. Literally their death is because of their own actions. Trying to say they can attack retreating fodder and attack the strongest country in the new world and an emperor known for protecting his people and live with no repercussions would be horrid story telling.

Being a pirate doesn’t make you a villain, but opposing Luffy OR Shanks does. Shanks is literally one of the mangas most generic “good guys.”

You’re an evil shanks theorist…
No

But calling Kid a villain for opposing Shanks is dumb because Luffy literally wants to do the same thing.

Whether or not a character is a villain is related to their relationship to the MC. Kid has proven on multiple occasions that he is Luffy's ally. Hence he isn't a villain.

In fact, Shanks taking Kid's poneglyphs and hence removing him from the pirate king race ensures that Kid won't ever oppose Luffy. If he comes back, his goal would presumably be just to take revenge on Shanks, which would only help Luffy since Shanks is in the pirate king race.

And I don't think Kid will defeat Shanks. But he'll probably cause him enough trouble to where Teach would defeat him.

Because losses and near death experiences are an integral part in the development of conquerors haki, a unique skill Kid has that sets him apart from most other supernova.
Kid already went through losses and near death experience, and he has yet to show any Haki from it. And it's not like he was too weak, given that Kid at his peak>no-ACoC Yamato/Zoro.

Oda just doesn't care about him and butchered his character arc

He will comeback to claim his place as luffy's number one rival.

I hope oda turns him into a villain tho, enough good guys.
