Let's accept the fact that based on chapter 1076, we can't deny that King is more competent than Shanks.
Reminder, this is not a VS thread. We aren't gonna discuss which is stronger between King and Benn Beckman's equal, this is no place for that.
This is what Shanks does in chapter 1076:
Basically what Shanks does is what King did on act 1 of Wano: preventing the enemy to enter their territory. Shanks doesn't want Kidd Pirates to enter Elbaf just like King doesn't want Big Mom Pirates to enter Wano.
Except there are 2 differences:
1. King finished the job alone, while Shanks needs all the back up not only from his crew, but even asking the Elbaf Warriors.
2. Who King faced was a real Yonko crew, while what Shanks, his equal, his crew, his alliances, and the Giants will face are just some Yonko crew wannabe, a bronze medalist who can't become one.
"but King only kicked the ship"
Yeah no, we can see, the Big Mom Pirates seeing King in giant pteranodon form from afar already. These are the BMP who came to Wano:
And among them at least we know that Big Mom, Smoothie, Daifuku, and Perospero can do long range attacks.
These 4 should easily targets King who already seen from afar, but they couldn't. Was King far too fast?
I meant, we have Kaku attacking Sunny from afar, yet sleeping Zoro could easily block it and protect the ship.
So let's be honest and don't downplay King's feats here with "but but only kick the ship". Sleeping people can protect the ship just fine. So why shouldn't Yonko crew: who logically have been on alert because they are entering enemy's territory, then already saw giant pteranodon flying to their direction; they all even the Yonko herself could do nothing to protect the ship? Answer: King was too fast for them all.
So yeah, King is more competent than Shanks in protecting the territory. He is also more competent than the other Yonkos too:
- Big Mom: self explanatory, King sinked her ass to the ocean.
- Kaido: who did nothing but panicked when Big Mom and her crew came to Wano? Who solved the problem on his own without even Kaido's order?
- Blackbeard: can't do shit even against baby King's clone.
- Goofy, well everyone refuses to accept Goofy as an Emperor, and he was embarassed too anyway by another baby King's clone in 1076.
