Koby is the Luffy of the marines. The portrayal is very solid in this regard.
Koby survived slave arrow, whereas Yamakaji, a veteran marine who's been in the service for decades, got negged.
Koby is clearly on a fast track to becoming admiral, granted he has better feats than many VAs.

Being an admiral isn't that special compared to the PK. This is what Koby will be by the EOS:
Meanwhile Luffy will not only have surpassed Roger by the time he defeats Blackbeard, he will surpass Joyboy by defeating Imu.
Koby will still be levels below Luffy EoS even if he is an admiral, so idk why people think this is some massive unattainable power jump.
As I said,
its just two power ups. CoO --> FS and CoA --> ACoA & ACoC. Its easily doable in a manner consistent with how Oda has written advanced haki.
- Koby gets FS fighting with Luffy against the BBP; say he beats a captain allied with Teach
- Sengoku/Garp trains him in ryuo between the BBP arc and the Final war
- Koby gets ACoC fighting Kong / a holy knight
If Oda really wants to push it, he could give him a mythical zoan, which is entirely reasonable given how the WG grants DFs to its soldiers.
But I fail to see how this is anymore of an asspull than, say, Kid and Law beating BM.
