If you think he didn't face Boa you weren't reading the same chapter. People act like BB can teleport when Oda clearly skipped some combat and thats why one moment he's holding back S-Hawk and then choking out Boa. Keep coping and calling things headcannon cause you can't read.
The VA got hit and Koby was standing in the line of fire with Helmeppo and he dodged the Mero beams clearly he was the only marine around that could do anything to stop Boa at that point.

Boas sister response to him is that he is to conceited and that they will handle him.

So not only was Boa going to attack koby with her strongest physical named attack WHILE HE WAS DISTRACTED but her trying to attack koby allowed blackbeard to jump her
