I think Coby getting kidnapped happened after the failed raid on Amazon Lily, since that happened weeks ago in the story while Coby apparently just now got kidnapped. Plus Grus is Coby's superior. He would know if his subordinate was going on a secret mission

Makes zero sense. Zoro, luffy, Sabo, coby all have a construct in terms of the way they will influence the story and have memorable traits that make them favorites. Being a construct doest contradict someone liking a character. So stop the bullshit
