Character Discussion Kuma has already become a deeper character than Kaido and Big Mom

#1
3 chapters passed and Kuma has already become more deeper character than Kaido and Big Mom. Yonkos have nothing but power. +250 chapters wasted for Yonko Saga and it’s trash.

Look at Shichibukais and Admirals. They are better character overall.
Doflamingo’s character make him one of the best villain in the One Piece.

The tension was at its peak when Akainu in the Marineford. None of the Yonkos gave us that feeling. Yonko’s are just cheap characters.

To be fair, Kaido and Big Mom are on the bottom of the rung as far as characterization goes, so they never would be a high bar to clear for Kuma. Nonetheless, you're right.

Kaido wasn't ever a deep character. As for Big Mom, her backstory was okay. Kuma's BS outshines them both

Any character oda created earlier is clearly inlayed with a deeper backstory.

This is why some of his oldest (Kuma, Gorosei, Shanks, Blackbeard, etc) are his longest surviving and unironically the most important characters in the series.

Why is Zoro's backstory in an SBS then? :kobeha:
Because he evidently didnt write Zoro's character to be any deeper than his introduction lol.

Same with Luffy, it was clear Sabo wasnt invented from Chapter 1. You can apply this to Sanji for the same reasons too.

Kuma sacrificing his mind is a 600+ chapter mystery, its not a recent development

Kuma has almost no personality shown other than his past which isn’t anything different or special from say Kyros or young Law.

Kaido and BM both have far more personality than he does, nuances too that stem from their upbringing. Kaido wishing for war yet wanting to die as the strongest, BM mistreating her children based on discrimination yet they are her first thoughts that come back to her when she regain her memories.

Kaido’s flashback was definitey rushed and not very well thought-out. But BM’s background is wholly fleshed, meant to be ironic not sympathetic. It shows why she is the way she is today having been manipulated in the shadows, and context to her dream of building a Utopia through iron rule. It’s simple yet interesting.
