The thing about Koby vs Kuzan is that it just doesn't make sense thematically as Koby's final opponent/obstacle. Koby's pretty much been defined as a hero since the timeskip. Koby's monumental victory should be over someone who represents some significant corrupt/evil force/movement – that's how a heroic victory is traditionally narrativized and achieved. You need people all over the world cheering on as Koby fights a capital B Badguy. You simply won't get this kind of scenario with Kuzan. Koby fighting Aramaki is several times more likely than Kuzan, if only because Kuzan's role in the story is that of anti-hero. But even Aramaki isn't that likely of a candidate imo.

There is no actual argument for Koby vs Kuzan. Oda didn’t bother to build up any connection even during Hachinosu and beyond. The first thing Koby thought about in the hospital is opossing Luffy, not Kuzan.

Look carefully at the people vehemently pushing for Koby to take down Kuzan. They don't have a solid reason, they just REALLY dislike Kuzan like Tac or Ha001 for instance and hope for him to have the most embarrassing end possible.

Him losing to the guy destined to surpass Prime Garp isn't embarrassing at all.

I mean, yeah, but this power-scaling agenda isn't even likely to hold significant merit for those that argue for it even if something like it were to occur. There's no way Kuzan is gonna be seriously fighting Koby in the endgame when he's busy betraying Teach and the like. There's little reason for him to go all out against someone whom I suspect he sees as the bright future of the marines (much like Garp does).

Like, sure, if the two were to meet, they may potentially exchange a blow or two (Kuzan may want to test him a bit), then Kuzan compliments Koby, gives him some final advice and they part ways. That's it. The thing is, what's so harmful to the Kuzan agenda here? Because this outlined scenario is significantly more likely than some contrived-ass full-on serious fight between them.

Koby will prove himself against Kuzan and then go on to help luffy against BB to some extent.
