The RHM is usually the strongest, most capable, and most important subordinate.
Think Bepo saving Law from Teach, or Zoro and Killer on the roof.
Shiryu isn’t that guy. From the beginning of this whole Hachinosu subplot, only one BBP has been given a spotlight. And that is Kuzan.
We got a flashback from him and he’s mainly the guy fighting Garp.
It makes absolutely no sense for Shiryu to be the RHM over Kuzan. Imo Oda only included him in that cover page because 1) Kuzan’s allegiance hadn’t been officially revealed, 2) Shiryu might have been the #2 before Kuzan joined.
Regardless, it’s clear how Oda is portraying this. Kuzan is getting all of the hype, Shiryu is getting none.
Why is this supposed to be a game changer? Why it is so hard to put aside preconceived powerscalling even when they are contradictory to the author canon?

bruh what the fuck are you talking about, Shiryu did nothing but pull a sneak attack.
Since he arrived, Kuzan was the only one who was able to stand up to Garp.
Literally the only ground you have to stand on is this questionable statement by Oda. As I said, why do you think Oda would spoil a major plot point in that color page?
Kuzan's loyalty to Teach has always been questioned by the fandom. Its not till this fight where fans started to view Kuzan as a legitimate member of the BBP.

And that exactly what I do not understand in the community. Most of us have read 1087 chapters and debate powerscalling for years, and at the end of the day we all saw that Oda make characters to be as strong as he wants them to be. Rather than to be as strong as he show them to be.
He has no consideration for past feats. You yourself have suffer from this with Kidd’s feats (i.e what he showed against big mom and against shanks).
But for some reasons you guys are still clinging to feats. If Oda wants Shiliew to be stronger than Aokiji. No matter the numbers of good feats he gave Kuzan, no matter the numbers of anti feats he gave to Shiliew, Shiliew will still be stronger than Kuzan. Because Oda does not care about this kind of consistency.
The argument about Oda not wanting to spoil Aokiji make zero sense because Oda had no obligation to do that cover at that moment, he could have wait.
So I ask again, with Oda way of writting why stick to fandom powerscaling when we have a clear cut information from Oda?

Oda’s intent is evident in the writing. You cannot separate the two.
You mentioned Kid. What you are suggesting is the equivalent of claiming that Kid(damaged BM with cheap shots and help) is superior to Luffy(fought Kaido 1v1).
Literally nothing in the manga suggests Shiryu is above Kuzan. Even Garp didn’t respect his strength.

So Oda saying that Shiliew is the second strongest is not an evident intent?
No, what I’m saying is that Kidd’s durability and endurance feats should not have allow Shanks to one shot him. Because Kidd has shown to be able to whistand several hits from Big Mom. But as I said Oda does not care about previous feats.
Which is why Shanks seems to be far stronger than Big mom even tho they are supposed to be on the same level.
So we going back to feat? Even after reminding you of Oda’s track record? So it is an unwillingness to learn from past mistakes.
Okay I get it.
Funnily enough I never believed in ZKK and you are one to the prime example of what I’m taking about.
Imagine:
-Having ague for months that Zoro is not strong enough to do anything to Kaido or to fight a YC1
-Having argue that Zoro will fight Who’s who o Denjiro or any YC3 level character in an extrem-diff fight.
-Having gloated because Zoro « struggle » against the gifters
-Having mocked Zoro fandom because Zoro « needed » help to « beat » Apoo
-Having mocked Zoro AP because Apoo was not OS
-Having used all that as a definitive proof that Zoro cas to weak to even see Kaido’s face
-Having been totally wrong about it all because Oda does the fuck he wants
And imagine now(after this fiasco) still clinging to past feats. Imagine…
Unfortunately unlike shanks fans, if someone uses a sword everytime for everything and even has a name for it, that guy is a swordsman so we can't deny a obvious fight. That's Oda's golden rules.
And if Kuzan vs Zoro doesn't happen, you will say "lmao zoro fans really thought they can face an ex-admirals".
We know buddy ... we know

Oda never said Shiryu>Kuzan. He said Shiryu the #2 in the crew. He said these are the guys he picked. He never said these are the 2nd strongest. We don't know why he put Shiryu their over Kuzan.
