It's not necessary for it to be his primary goal, but nothing implies he was lying.Of course he puts revenge on Doffy first, but Oda had him say those words about One Piece for a reason. He can't just remain Luffy's cheerleader forever.
Though, I do believe Oda kinda forgot he had Law say that.Anyway, Law living till EoS would be a waste of the whole immortality surgery thing.
I dont think becoming Pirate King was on the top of his list, but he had interest in finding the treasure lol. Every pirate does
Law's life ambition of 13 years β€” long before he ever became a pirate β€” was to kill Doflamingo. Law never cared for the One Piece, and he didn't even expect to survive his attempt to kill Doflamingo.

Either Law was lying to his crew, or Oda retconned his character. The idea that Law cares about becoming Pirate King flat out contradicts his actions.

He lived for 13 years to launch a suicidal revenge mission. That's not someone that gives a damn about pirate treasure.

Great post. I'd personally like Law to have Sword affiliations post Wano. It would make him unique because let's be honest, he isn't rivaling Luffy anymore that's Kids role
I see Law travelling alongside the Strawhats Post Wano.

He’s going to remain an ally but I don’t see what role he’d play on Elbaf assuming its the next arc and a possible intermission arc of sorts. So a potential short term split is very possible. Since he’s needed for the end game material anyway he’ll come back Post Elbaf in which the series will presumably begin the Final Saga comprised of Raftel and the Final War.

What role did he play on Zou? What role did Zoro play on Zou? I see no reason why Law can't tag along.

Elbaf would mostly be for Luffy/Usopp anyway.

Nah he's joining the crew.
He needs to go to raftel. Only the pirate king crew will go there. Not pirate crew and add ons.

Zou was an intermediary step up arc to Wano though. It was more so about expository info dumps than individual characters. Elbaf is going to be a more lively and adventurous type arc (Emerald City, Yggdrasil, etc etc). It should be a Straw Hat centric arc, with Ussop’s character being at the helm of development. I just don’t see what Law would be doing there other than taking away panel time that would otherwise be more usefully spent on the main cast.
I think rather expounding upon the connection him and Drake have (which @rerere neatly recapped in detail) post Wano & having Law play an active role in events that will spill over into the Final War is a better way of utilizing his character. The Straw Hats just need to be desperately revived seeing as how they’ve been a shell of themselves post timeskip as characters, no better way to start doing so in an arc where they are by themselves.
Now the likelihood of this happening? Idk but I think it’d be the better route.

Well my issue is that this:

Feels like confirmation that Law is accompanying the Strawhats Post Wano. Oda gave him a new reason to want to accompany them. This reason takes precedence over whatever connections he has with Drake.

What rationale would there be for Law to abandon the Strawhats (even temporarily)?

Unlike Kidd, he was shown to be very worried when he heard that Luffy had been defeated:

Yeah you kinda changed my mind on the whole Law issue. He ain't gonna be contesting for the Pirate King spot (though I still believe he will die).
These panels side by side are really interesting.Law is quite the character.

He has a new dream that needs him to go raftel
And luffy already sees him as a crew mate.
It's done as far as I can see.

Hes going to raftel.
Yeah, he's a de facto Strawhat already and I see him remaining one.

And luffy already sees him as a crew mate.
He's also shown concern for Luffy and Zoro. Despite all his complaints that he's not Luffy's underling, he still acts like one.

Law might be honorary Strawhat but that's it. He's like the Aokiji of the Blackbeard Pirates but with SH instead.
More like Oden with Roger. Law is sailing aboard the Strawhats ship, and the captain and vice captain fully trust him, with the captain declaring that he's a member of their crew. Kuzan is not trusted by the Blackbeard Pirates.
