If Chopper and Kureha didn’t cure Nami in Drum Kingdom, none of this would be happening.
If Kokoro didn’t save the whole crew from drowning in Enies Lobby, none of this would be happening.
If Akainu had killed Luffy at Marineford, none of this would be happening.
See how easy it is to pick an arbitrary starting point in the past and declare it the touchstone for current events??
Not detracting from Sanji’s actions, let’s just not pretend like they were seismic in scope. He did what he SHOULD have done, you don’t get extra credit for fulfilling a basic obligation.

What do you mean he did what he should have done. How is carrying around a headless rude and verbal Samurai something he should have done. He literally said he would take full responsibility if something bad happens because of it. Because it was a bad idea bringing him along.

Also, you mentioned him saving the minks as part of what kicked this all off...to think that no other Straw Hat Pirate OR any good hearted person wouldn’t have at least attempted to do the same is asinine.
I love Sanji and think he’s as crucial to this story’s success as any other SHP, but you’re trying to make his actions into something they’re not. I strongly doubt Oda drew those panels, sat back in his chair, and thought, “Ahh, YES! Now I’ve done it! This is EXACTLY where the rest of the series begins!!”
