chrollo needed multiple abilities to stomp hisoka. This technically depends on what abilities he’d have at the time.

Light is confirmed smarter in the data book if I’m correct. Some say it’s a mistranslation though. Whoever you find smarter, L could never make a plan as great as the memory loss plan.

Anyone thinking the two aren’t close in terms of intelligence are retarded.

Also prime Light Yagami is different. He becomes smarter as he ages and he also has the police under his control. The Light L was facing was just a high school student.

Even based off raw portrayal, Near kinda confirms you needed someone greater than L to beat Light and he only achieved that by combining his efforts with Mello’s.

Chrollo should be slightly above Hisoka with no prep but Hisoka is probably surpassing him real soon. If not already. Definitely convincing arguments for both sides but I’m gonna lean Chrollo cause of the sheer difference between their skill in their first fight.

Money, logistics, international intelligence networks, high tech and surveillance (e.g. wiring Light's room), a task force, means of detention (arresting Light under 24/7 surveillance) and unethical conduct (e.g. having Light's dad pretend to shoot him and Misa).

It wasn't raw intelligence alone that gave L these possibilities. And now couple that with the fact Light was suspect #1 from the beginning (so it wasn't about finding Kira anymore but simply proving it's Light) and the fact Light had to deal with various forces stacked against him (FBI/Penber, Naomi, an antagonistic Shinigami) and outsmarted them all.

Chrollo couldn’t use his powers without dying due to Kurapika’s master plan and Hisoka always wanted to fight Chrollo because he’s a blood knight but lost interest after Chrollo lost his powers. So Chrollo spent months running the gauntlet and taking other people’s powers and eventually used it to beat Hisoka with multiple powers.

What people ignore is that intel is crucial in any hxh fight and Hisoka had prep time too

My exact answer on both. If Chrollo has a strong nen at the moment then it’s GG Hisoka. It wouldn’t be easy in any case, Chrollo is a competent fighter even in base. Just go ask the Zoldycks.

L is definitely smarter in terms of deductive reasoning, he was at a disadvantage the entire show as he was trying to figure out the rules of the supernatural. Light could be smarter overall if we include social and manipulation skills. I remember that the author also stated that L is the smartest guy in an interview though. Like the plot demanded for him to be the smartest.

Chrollo couldn’t use his powers without dying due to Kurapika’s master plan and Hisoka always wanted to fight Chrollo because he’s a blood knight but lost interest after Chrollo lost his powers. So Chrollo spent months running the gauntlet and taking other people’s powers and eventually used it to beat Hisoka with multiple powers.

What people ignore is that intel is crucial in any hxh fight and Hisoka had prep time too

Yes it kinda is. That’s the argument that Hisoka fans make and I kinda see it. But the argument Chrollo fans make in return is that intel and prep in general is extremely important in the HxH verse and the fight was such a stomp that it couldn’t possibly matter anyways (the fight was practically low diff if you did read the series lol). So it’s basically portrayal gap vs unfairness gap in a sense? And they argue that Chrollo’s entire arsenal is based on his IQ and stealing abilities so he’d technically need prep for all his fights. He also explained all his abilities to Hisoka in the fight.

That’s the general arguments as far as I am aware of. I don’t really powerscale that series so if there’s any counters to any of these arguments, I wouldn’t know since I’ve only read surface level on them.

Personally? I feel they’re both portrayed relative and you could go either way. It’s gonna be a tough fight regardless. I voted for Chrollo because I like him muuuch more as a character but Hisoka could win too.

Reading this thread, I’m starting to feel there’s more arguments for Hisoka > Chrollo than the other way around so I guess Hisoka might be stronger overall. I don’t know. If there’s a fight then I’m rooting for Chrollo but it’s not something I’d bet money on cause I’m not that confident.

For me both L and light are equals. I give slight edge to light.

Chrollo still wins imo. He was able to survive 2v1 against zeno and silva for a reason. Chrollo has more abilities and more opportunities to win the fight.

L is already known to be smarter, even with something so unbelievable against it he was close. I think L is just smarter and more experienced than Light

No prep chrollo I don't think as impressive, he pretty much has failed when he ia not 100% prepared, like against kurapika. Even though hisoka lost fight in the end he did outsmart and came on top by killing his members and also surviving.
