My man, definitely check out Monster. It's a masterpiece. And Johan is amazing. He has no superpowers. I don't wanna spoil it for you, but it's a warm recommendation. Like others have said, it's definitely worth checking out, and you should avoid spoilers. It's not even long, the anime has 74 episodes and the manga iirc 162 chapters. In my opinion this is Urasawa's best work.

Imo it’s between monster and 20th century boys

20th century boys have a better story and a better supporting cast
But monster has a better main protagonist and main antagonist

both are goats
And number 1 and 2 on my list of the greatest manga I have ever read

Imo the best manga ever
The plot is so captivating and interesting
So mysterious and addictive
I finished it in one day
That’s how good it is
BUT
You must pay attention if you want to read this manga
Because at the beginning there are a lot of time jumps between the past present and future
So its easy to get confused

as I said tenma and Johan >>>>>the main antagonist and protagonist of 20th century boys

but that doesn’t mean they are bad by any means
They are absolutely brilliant

it’s just that tenma and johan are too goated

I'll probably check it out when I am not busy then. I could try to binge it, but I think Urasawa's manga should be read patiently.


Johan is an absolute GOAT. God tier character and villain.

It's kind of hard to compare Johan because he's the antagonist while the other two are protagonists, but I think it goes Johan>Lelouch>Light imo.

All three are very excellent written characters though.
