Oda:
- it's 2012 and Oda debuts the alliance to take down Kaido

- it's 2021 and Oda is doing a chapter where Luffy is losing to Kaido again. "Fuck it, he's god now."

- it's 2022 and Oda does yet another chapter of Luffy losing. Gets tired of trying to write a story where Luffy overcomes so just decides to have Luffy win anyway and be done with it.

Readers in 2022:
- wondering why Luffy is considered a shitty protagonist

I don’t downplay luffy the scaling is:
Dressrosa Luffy <<< Doflamingo (Doffy would’ve won without law or the country helping Luffy pretty easily) combined with Odas current hype for Warlords to this just works more.
Post WCI Luffy >= Katakuri
Current Luffy <=> Kaido

But we both know that next time luffy fights someone he’s going to job to them.

Luffy was stronger than Doffy in WCI. As long as you agree that his opponents also had help then we agree. I think not plot armor involved Katakuri was stronger than Luffy when they fought. But I’m literally just talking about the help.

So you’re hating because the manga is long? Luffy did overcome Kaido by awakening and getting stronger haki.

Yeah that’s a wrong translation. The official and the wiki both say Luffy would’ve had to “try his best”. And nah post WCI Luffy vs Doffy is still in Doffys favor. The more impressive law became the more impressive Doffy became.

And the difference is Luffy always fights with the most plot armor that he never gets to actually beat someone strong without a giant asterisk.

Bellamy is a fodder, so his attacks on Luffy don't count, but the Scabbards damaging Kaido is supposed to equal the damage Kaido was administering to Luffy, amiright?

Not just a fodder but an "already beaten up by Doffy"-fodder.
And tbh both Trashbard and Luffy is supposed to be a fodder as well again Kaido. Can't apply logic on that fight, but one thing for sure that Oda desperately nerfed Kaido that fight.

People always complain about Luffy getting help in important battles but never even mention the villains getting help. I’ll give a few examples:

1. When Luffy fought Katakuri people complained that he got help from Brûlée and was able to run away and restore his haki. Okay great but why doesn’t anyone talk about the help Katakuri got? Flampe and some other fodder were literally shooting silent needles at Luffy while he was dodging Katakuris attacks which were based on his future movements and dodging the needles. That’s literally the only reason that he got stabbed. Katakuri also was able to restore his haki when Luffy left so I don’t see the big deal.

2. People said Luffy got help from Law and Gatz against Doflamingo as if Trebol and Bellamy weren’t there. If anything that was a 3 v. 2 with Doffy getting more help than Luffy. Gatz helped Luffy run away yet Oda said Luffy could run away on his own. He also said Luffy would have defeated Doffy still without the help. I never understood the complaints. Luffy also showed clear superiority to Doffy in G4 1v1.

3. People complain about Luffy v. Kaido not being 1v1 which I understand but it’s still utterly ridiculous. Kaido fought the scabbards who didn’t do any significant damage. He fought (Luffy, Law, Kidd, Killer and Zoro) but he did have help from Big Mom and the only people who did any significant damage were Luffy and Zoro. After that Yamato probably did a little damage but Luffy made her leave the fight and blue scarf interfered getting Luffy killed. So it’s not like Kaido didn’t have help. Kaidos help actually lead to Luffys death, awakening and Kaido getting his ass whooped. I’ll concede that the other fights might have tired Kaido out though. But I don’t want to hear anything about lifting the island draining his stamina nobody told him to do that and we don’t know if it drains him or not. If it does he should have put the island down.

Moral of the story is people pray on Luffys downfall and I don’t understand it. We know he will always win in the end.

Luffy was injured by Kaido so badly, he literally died from his wounds.

Kaido was nowhere near that type of injured. Not even close to it.

Instead of making Luffy have character development after failure, Oda wants to maintain his overly stubborn character by having him getting nonsense plot armour instead.

Kaido vs Luffy is unacceptable for me. Kaido explicitly stated to crush his eyes, his heart, his brain. Then what? Once he has a chance, he threw Luffy to the sea and crying that it was a mistake. There is no plot integrity surrounding Luffy
