I think one of the more baffling elements from post Wano is how the world kind of just treats Luffy like any other pirate STILL, yet there is no pirate alive that’s ever defeated a Yonko.
Kaido and big mom themselves had 3 days fighting each other and neither of them won. Shanks has never defeated a Yonko or anyone close to that as far as the story implies. None of the Warlords have. None of the admirals have.
This is a wholly unprecedented event. When Whitebeard died to forces of all the admirals plus the Blackbeard pirates, no one person was given individual credit for beating him. Blackbeard has never been called “the man who beat Whitebeard” and even the marines who would love the propaganda of that never call Akainu that…
Yet in egghead Kizaru directly says “this is the man who defeated Kaido”… Kizaru, and so the marines and the rest of the world, fully believe Luffy straight up defeated a Yonko… and yet there’s nothing the marines or the Gorosei or any other random pirate like when Bonney run into Luffy at the start of the arc, none of these characters act like this is a big deal.
Saturn can go on his nonsensical monologues about humans being insects while Luffy, the man who defeated Kaido, is fucking EATING RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM, and he feels no pressure to FUCKING KILL HIM WHERE HE STANDS
It’s nonsensical. The last time a pirate ever defeated another top tier pirate as WAS FUCKING ROGER BEATING ROCKS… 40 years ago… In truth the last time a top tier pirate was beaten was Kaido beating Oden but the general public of the world doesn’t know about that so Kaido isn’t given credit for that…
But even still, right now every single man woman and child, marine pirate and revolutionary, should fucking quake at the mention of Luffy’s name. He’s a literal living legend as he stands right now and it’s fucking bullshit how the characters and story pretend otherwise
