Ace was never meant to be Joy Boy and never inherited Roger's will.

Ace never wanted the same dream as Luffy and Roger.

Luffy has Joy Boy's DF and inherited Roger's will.

Sabo literally has Ace's DF and Law saved Luffy in MF.

Luffy promised to whoop Big Mom's ass when he got to her territory, and guess who ended up beating her? Law and Midd.
But I'm not even sure if this is the same, because Luffy didn't outright say he would beat Akainu in revenge.
When he said he wanted to get stronger he mentioned beating Sentomaru, Kuma, and Kizaru.
