I'm far from being a Zoro wanker but yeah it's pretty obvious he's the one who is meant to be the Ryuma parallel, he's even compared to him by some characters so it just makes more sense. Now it's true Oda poorly executed that parallel in some aspects (unless it's gonna be touched on later?) but that's somewhat irrelevant since it's still Zoro, not Luffy

Similar to how Oda went out his way to show that Zoro is NOT the “Monster samurai like Oden”, Oda has again gone out of his way to show Zoro is NOT the parallel to the sword god Ryuma. Luffy is both. Luffy is the parallel to Oden having actually defeated Kaido, and he is the parallel to Ryuma, having saved the land.

And if you are gonna say shit about Zoro looking like Ryuma remember, Momo looks like Oden and yet Luffy is still the parallel to Oden. So…
