Could be yes. I check wiki and did little research into this "point" but it doesn't matter since this is a world of fiction.. the dude can create fire somehow. We could analyze and say that there is some science behind it but still its dumb fiction

Luffy is Jesus Christ of one piece. And his ability is Natural Rubber not Synthetic Rubber. And Natural Rubber Contains Protein Resin etc.. Luffy loves meat and it makes him strong "gag" Resin is more free and easy to change "G5".
