Here is a good synopsis I found online for you. You should also watch the video „Should you watch Made in Abyss“.
Plot:
An orphaned girl named Riko lives in the Belchero Orphanage in the town of Orth. The town surrounds a strange, giant hole descending deep into the earth, which is known as the Abyss. The Abyss harbors artifacts and remnants of civilizations long gone, and is, therefore, a popular hunting spot for so-called Cave Raiders, who undertake arduous and dangerous descents into the mist-filled pit to recover whatever relics they can find. Returning from the Abyss can be dangerous as "the Curse of the Abyss," a mysterious and potentially fatal malady, manifests upon ascension. The deeper one goes, the more acute the effects of the curse; few who have descended into the lower regions have returned to tell of their experiences. Some legendary Cave Raiders earn the title of White Whistles, one of them being Riko's mother, Lyza, who is presumed dead after taking a "last descent" into the Abyss.
Riko's longing in life is to follow in her mother's footsteps and become a White Whistle.[6] One day, she discovers a robot resembling a human boy in the first layer of the Abyss and names him Reg. Riko and her friends sneak Reg into Belchero and quickly welcome him into their close-knit group. Sometime later, a number of findings are made from the depths of the Abyss, including Lyza’s White Whistle and pages of discoveries and observations she had made, as well as a message presumably for Riko, stating she is waiting at the bottom of the Abyss. Riko, determined to find her mother, bids farewell to her friends and secretly departs into the Abyss with Reg as her companion.

This guy? This character design is so good that it makes want to watch the show. Are the other character designs as good as this one?

it isn't a little boi shonen show, this is a Seinen so it is usually not as popular as little boi shonen, that's why you can't compare it to little boi shonen shows like JJK or Demon Slayer :/
but animationwise it is up there and I personally like it more than JJK or Demon Slayer

So I just realized that Irumyuii and Faputa seem to be 2 different characters even when I hoped for them to be the same character. We get all those failed newborns from Irumyuii which might hint that at the end Irumyuii will succeed with the birth of a surviving child. So Faputa and maybe all the others in the Golden City might origin from the same person and carry Irumyuii's blood.
Now obviously there is one odd one out and that is Vueko who seems to have survived a whole era passing, by that we can speculate that Vueko is down there for decades or even for a century or more. How? Because I think that Irumyuii gave Vueko eternal youth, maybe in exchange for Irumyuii dying and this making Vueko's personal blessing of the Abyss.
A key to everything are two things: The cells living in the layer six water and the "egg shaped" artifacts. The cells seem to the mayor cause for the loss of humanity and they seem to posses their own conciousness even. This is taking us back to the real world where all live comes from water, what Made in Abyss is inspired from: Real world evolution.
This is also why there could be bad cell/host relationships and good cell/Host relationships that create the different forms of evolutions. Science is important because that is where Bondrewd will play a role later on. But to get to the point: Faputa and Nanachi are two examples of a perfect evolution where I think that Faputa was born like a perfect being. Why this is important is bringing us to the next point - Where does the Abyss come from and what is it's purpose?
I think the Golden City was once on surface of the planet centuries ago. All those egg artifacts make me think that this could be remnants of an Ancient Alien species that once landed on the world and turned an Island to their new home where they would recreate their old species and make the Earth their new home. Now all the ancient technology in the Abyss starts making sense.
Have you ever heard about interstellar crosspollination? That is literally what happens. Comets are capable of transporting material up to even dead cells and with a low chance even alive cells from one star system to another one due to dust clouds, it can travel within a star system too. That is why you can find Mars dust on earth for example. That is exactly what happened in Made in Abyss and this most likely caused the curse and the creation of the Abyss over the time. Making the ancient Golden City sink with the bottom of the Abyss. My speculation is that they will find some kind of wormhole or gate to the spacetime on layer 7 and this can either take them to the past or future or make them even absorb a part of the whole consciousness.
