In terms of character work and world building One Piece is a top tier series.
People reduce it to power scaling and agendas, so a lot of love gets lost.
A big issue is that Oda makes so many interesting characters, that people really want to see their favorites get wins and screen time. It's hard for a lot of people to accept that this Manga is about Luffy and the Straw Hats, when they like other characters so much more.
One Piece has tons of flaws, but, if you look at other long running manga, I just think it kicks their ass in terms of staying interesting and relevant. In One Piece, I ALWAYS want to know what's going to happen next. I enjoy reading other series more at times, but no series sticks in my head and forces me to think about it the way One Piece does.

Nami will never EVER EVER do anything as relevant as Sakura literally helping beat the final boss
Nami fans literally try to come up with the most retarded theories where Nami is somehow related with Imu or something so that she could be any bit relevant in the story. They literally are happy with nami being the endgame princess in distress if that would make her relevant in the story.
