This chapter set up someone to swoop in and save the SHs. This being the BBP makes no sense as they should have arrived before the incident even started and are probably hiding and hiding their time.
Anyone like the revos, RHP, Cross Guild, etc. won’t work because they are too strong and will essentially kill all tension of this arc.
But Marco and Weevil make perfect sense. Last we saw of them, Bakkin was asking Marco to save Weevil, telling him that Vegapunk would prove Weevil is WB’s son. Hence Marco has a vested interest in saving Vegapunk. Given how Bakkin was in MADS and Weevil was presumably created by one of VP’s experiments, Bakkin and Weevil could also have an interest in saving VP.
Overall they fit into this arc, but aren’t so strong as to kill the arc’s tension.
