Since these are the 2 arcs which are commonly regarded as the peak of the story, which one would you say is better?

"Armageddon on the Bayfront Walls" Marineford

OR

"War at the Justice Gate" Enies Lobby

Enies Lobby.

1) It‘s directly tied to 2 of the Straw Hats‘ backstories
2) The pacing and fights are much better, everyone powers up and has their own moment
3) It ends on a happy note which is important to me for an arc

I wouldn’t call the MF arc the peak or even a peak of the story with how inconsistent it feels wrt what we now know about Haki and somesuch. The pacing also felt horrible and frankly, Luffy should have never survived encounters with all those monsters which makes this feel like a Deus Ex Machina BS Arc.

Water 7 and Eniess Lobby.

And to be honest, These two arcs ain't the type to compare , because Enies lobby was heavily SH centric chapter and Readers love that kind of writing.

But at the same time , Marineford was huge bonus was Marines and Yonkou Fandom. It was introduction to entirely new powerlevels.

So best arc between these two , is Enies lobby for me.

But defining one piece powerlevel or raising it , this arc did the job correctly.

My personal pick is Marineford because I feel the emotional buildup of Saboady and Impel combined exceeds that of W7 alone. Also, the fact, it was the arc that actually made me want to watch OP (I wanted to see the "Ace death" arc lol). Despite there not being 1v1s, I feel the arc encapsulates the war element perfectly, and it has all the big guys appear too. It's the biggest arc in the story and truly the end of an era. Whitebeard, admirals, Blackbeard, Luffy, Ace, WB commanders and Shanks at the end serve their role almost perfectly.

Also I'm kinda biased because it has all of my top 5 favourite characters of the story appear (Shanks, Ace, Luffy, Law and Mingo). And Ace's death was the only time in the entire show I came even close to crying. I don't care about the agenda wars now, the memes and all, watching it raw for the first time was emotional and he was my dawg. It hurt to see him die.

EL is also great but Marineford is up there at the pinnacle of shonen which EL simply isn't.

Imagine reading Marineford weekly and you see spoilers of Vista matching Mihawk and Mihawk decided to postpone the fight lol.

The agenda would breaks the internet for sure.
I think Marineford is the arc where the fandom truly started powerscaling. Before that, it was just story related discussion.

Also kinda ironic how everyone thinks the story went downhill after the arc that started powerscaling. Maybe powerscaling is the reason why everyone enjoys this story less now:gokulaugh::willight:

Yeah, I absolutely hated that. Ik from a writing standpoint the purpose of the arc was to show Luffy how weak he was, but it also made Ace feel like a waste of a character. His death being like, the only important character death so far also makes it way overused to introduce old friends of his like Tama and Yamato when Ace surviving would have the same outcomes anyway. Luffy would still train if Ace survived, Sabo wouldn’t have gotten the DF, but Ace would still exist. Yamato and Tama would still become his friends, Jinbei would still join his crew. Only WB dying was necessary, but it felt like Ace died for pretty much nothing. We didn’t even get Luffy wanting to take revenge on Akainu or becoming more hostile towards the Marines which could have made for an interesting conflict with Koby, nope, all remained the same and he even helped Smoker and Tashigi when they helped the guy who killed his brother. I feel like Oda could have used Ace‘ death as a build up to much more interesting plot points, but did nothing with it.
