Character Discussion Mihawk-Imu parallels

#1
I’m making a dedicated thread about Mihawk-Imu/Celestial Dragon parallels.

I made a thread like this about the many Loki-Zoro parallels (including that time Oda directly said that Loki and Zoro are parallels of one another) and the point of that thread remains the same, Parallels DO NOT MEAN CONNECTION

Anyway onto the list

1. “ Dracule” comes from “Dracul”, which means “son of Dragon” or “son of Devil”. It’s interesting that both translations work as parallels of either son of Celestial Dragons or son of the Devil / Imu

2. Mihawk calls fighting weaklings “hunting rabbits”. This phrase is only ever used again in God Valley when Celestial Dragons are talking about hunting slaves.

3. Mihawk has ringed eyes like Imu. Yes other characters have this too and that means those characters also parallel Imu. That’s fine. Remember, Parallels =/= connections

4. Mihawk’s ringed eyes are RED, this here is unique to Mihawk and Imu alone.

5. Mihawk has vaguely religious Christian motifs like Imu. Again other characters also have Christian motifs. That’s fine. They too count as parallels to Imu.

6. Imu morphs his Naginata into a blade called “Nemesis” and attacks in a similar style to Mihawk. In case you didn’t know, “Nemesis” is a Greek Goddess. She is the daughter of Night. Yoru, Mihawk’s sword, is “Night”

7. There’s also Non-canon parallels such as Mihawk’s Named attacks in the Video game Pirate warriors 4 called “16 day moon”, the Number 16 being associated with Celestial dragons. And another attack called “ black blade void” and void is spelled as “Mu”

Again just like with my Zoro-Loki parallels thread (which Oda himself confirmed) this thread isn’t making any conclusions whatsoever about WHY Oda is making these parallels. This is just a compilation of them as is.

I already theorised that Mihawk is older than Imu so this fits well. :myman:
Imagine all people thinking Mihawk is Imu's son while it's the other way around, Imu is Mihawk's son/daughter...
