How I imagine you entering any thread concerning Mihawk downplay:
Not any thread lol! I stay out of most of them! But @Monkey D Theories did a good job of presenting their case without baiting or bashing and this thread seems chill. Mihawk is also chill. Let us be like Mihawk.

May be, Mihawk left the island because the humandrils found peace and it was not necessary to bring buster call or other catastrophe upon the now-peaceful island.
It's a peaceful cabbage-based monkey commune now. A UNESCO protected wetland environment. The Marines aren't legally allowed to be there. Where is Greenpeace?!

I don't know why this is even considered downplay

I mean, is mihawk supposed to be so strong that he is literally untouchable? The marines are one of the strongest entities in the series. They have at least 6 top tiers(4 admirals as well as garp and sengoku), and they recently got the SSG, which both kaido and fujitora have hyped up to be as strong as the shichibukai.

We have no idea who the marines are sending. If they send one admiral and multiple high tiers from the SSG, would it really be downplay to say that mihawk might get injured and run?

Or is mihawk supposed to be so ungodly strong that he can defeat an admiral and multiple high tiers all at the same time?

Through this loss, Mihawk will either find himself allying with shanks or somehow interacting with blackbeard.
I really dislike the cliche with Shanks & Mihawk becoming pals again, very predictable. If Oda intends for Mihawk to go full "lets see what this boring world would become when it turns upside-down" mode and joins hands with EoS Teach against the SSG/WG then he would basically group Luffy/Zoro's EoS enemies in one band, saving us from the Diamond Shiryu travesty. We know there's going to be a huge clash between Marines and BBP soon.

Make it happen Oda, get rid of Perona and let Mihawk awaken his inner, evil scumbag pirate self and give him a respectable antagonist role at the final war. :steef:

It's a possibility, but it depends on what they brought with them and how they plan to attack him. If Mihawk was injured, it would definitely be a turning point in OP. He doesn't have any visible scars, so getting a touch on him must be really rare.

If he gets hurt, he would escape, I agree. But I think he's going to escape anyway. The only difference is that if he gets hurt, people will have to redo all their power scaling and argue about if the person/thing who injured him was a "pure swordsman."

No, not to me. It would suck, but almost all top tiers have some cool scars by now. But I'm thinking of more of a Rambo III kind of scenario where he plays hide and seek with them, not that he got hurt and ran off like a dog : \

I think Hancock and Buggy will be captured. I think Weevil will be the main antagonist of the next arc so i think he will kill all the marines and escape. Mihawk is an EOS opponent so he’s definitely not taking an L to the marines.

The marines will capture 2 warlords and save their pride but they will also have a lot of casualties due to Mihawk basically wiping out 10 warships.

Buggy-sama? i don't think so, he's a mastermind and one of the greatest pirates ever. Shame on you :shame:

Not gonna i can see him escaping as well at the cost of his allies. Boa I think will get caught cause shes gonna fight Fujitora straight up. Mihawk ain’t getting caught either way. Weevil could get caught but then what was the point in introducing him in the story.

Being captured doesn't stop Weevil from getting feats and that is assuming Oda gives a shit about the amount of feats a character has at all

We're about to see just how effective the military might of the WG is, maybe not all of the Warlords are getting captured, but none of them are coming out on top

While many people fully expect the shichibukai to stomp in their upcoming clash with the marines, I'm not so sure of this. Kaido himself stated that the marines hadn't lost their minds when they replaced the shichibukai, meaning that the SSG has to be strong. Hence, it doesn't make sense for Oda to hypetool the SSG when they don't have any feats yet.

The marines are one of the biggest enemies in the series, hence Oda actually needs to hype up the SSG, moreso than he needs to hype Mihawk, who has already received more than enough hype throughout the series.

Another thing is that Mihawk is a very important character and post-wano, we will be very close to the EoS. Hence, Oda needs to get MIhawk back into the main plot. In order to do this, Mihawk can't just be sitting on his island like he has for a majority of the series. The only way for him to leave would be if he was driven out by the marines.

I suspect that the marines have sent an admiral and/or members of the SSG, to Mihawk's island. In this fight, Mihawk will be overwhelmed, become injured, and ultimately run away from the marines. Through this loss, Mihawk will either find himself allying with shanks or somehow interacting with blackbeard.

Also, an important thing to note here is that the SSG doesn't actually need anyone on par with Mihawk in order to defeat him. Multiple high tiers, if they are strong enough(say marco level), could be enough to pressure mihawk.
The chances of that happening is less than zero.
Saying there is no chance doesn't do justice to how unlikely it is.
