i think Deku use jetpack is just tribute to Gran Torino, even though he isn't dead.

No, En has a smoke quirk... Just like his name. There were some Japanese readers in 5ch saying 2 weeks ago that when Deku appears there was smoke around him and that it could be the 6th's quirk and... They were absolutely right.

BTW don't think too much about the tools you see in this chapter. Those are Deku's quirks but just thinking of them as tool to control them better.
