if you look at king closely he literally resemble an angel, he looks like a dark version of seraphim, but that's not how i see his race was about,
King can create fires at his will he even sports fire even when he's not fighting, and according to marco it wasn't an individual ability but a typical thing on his race.
now i have an idea that his race was really an inspiration of a mythical creature, a creature than can create and extinguish fire,

why do i think oda get an inspiration on that mythical creature? King cover his body and face, and last time someone does that he was hiding his appearance not that he wanted to look cool and badass, but because of how he look, King is absolutely look ugly and weird by any standards.
theres also a pokemon who got the inspiration on fire salamander, like king this pokemon also sports fire passively
its ridiculous to think but oda made kaido DF also look like this, like kaido his DF was inspired by an water dragon
