And we both know Zoro will be getting no special treatment or exposition regarding Asura as it is just an illusion + random power up to make him cooler just like Diable Jambe tbh

From my understanding its just him moving fast and creating after images. The anime makes it clearer after the battle of Onigashima.

Asura is not an illusion, just like Diable Jamble or Ifrit jump aren't.
Sure Oda doesn't care much about anything else other than Nika nowadays but Zoro is still an important character in his eyes. He's the only one who got a side fight in a Nika wanking arc which means Oda cares about his future.
We will learn more about Asura before he becomes the WSS and turns his blades black.
